Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Malaysiaroom small and noisy when ppl do packing/unpacking late at night. There should be notice to inform late night packing/unpacking to be done outside the dorm. Also, there should be a special area outside the dorm for ppl to pack/unpack so sleeping ppl are not disturbed

AustriaThe room space, smell in the room because of skies and six people in a 14m room. I searched about 2-3 hour in Booking.com to get a horizontal bed (normal ones), and the photos in Grids hotel do show only horizontal ones with a lot of space un the room, but i git a capsule one as zi arrived there:// my bad... i feel kept in such beds, anyway it was midnight and i had no choice. The bed was ok at the end i could sleep, but i would not go for such a choice if I would see in the pictures.
The location is great, the shared place is also nice, staff rather friendly and the bathrooms are clean. The point is that the rooms pictures do not map the reality and the room space was so smaller that expected. It is not shown that they have Capsul type bed as all the photos show horizontal bunk bed, but i got a capsule one unfortunately.

We stayed in a private double room. The room was really tiny but well organised, there was even a bathroom. Location is also good, close to ueno station and everything.

GreeceThe room was tiny, you can not even open 1 large baggage. Fortunately we stayed for 1 night and we had to open just 1 carry on. Poor breakfast.
Location is close to UENO station. The room was very clean! Good to stay for a night or 2 but only have 1 carry on with you! friendly staff.

SingaporeCleanliness was ok but could’ve been better, there was quite a bit of hair around in the women’s bathroom and the rooms don’t have a trash bin.
Very convenient location in Ueno, 25mins walking to Asakusa through a nice neighborhood and well connected to the rest of the city + airport via JR/metro. Capsules are comfy and private.

CanadaOnly one elevator and no stairs access (caused a disruption in our plans when they were doing elevator maintenance), so it can take a bit of time to get to and from your room during busy periods.
Location is great, room was small but comfortable bed and a good price for a private bathroom!

CanadaKitchen was pretty small. The ladders are hard on the feet if your in an upper bunk. Rules for people cleaning up after themselves should be enforced as some people would leave water bottles and other items in female dorm after they’d check out. Also the dryer took forever they should get that serviced because it took two hours to dry my clothes.
Close to Ueno station. Breakfast available, rooms nice, bathrooms and showers are clean. Board games for guests to play. Close to many shops, market, restaurants as well as station. Lots of nice travellers.

PolandNo concerns at all!
My last few days in Tokyo were at Grids Tokyo Ueno Hotel&Hostel, mainly due to the localisation of the hostel - next to Kensei-Ueno station, which can take you directly to the Narita Airport. Facilities are nice and clean, the staff is very welcoming, allowing you to leave your bags the day of your checkout for an extended period of time. Moreover, on the day of the check-in you receive an email, in which you can post majority of information required for your check-in (like passport number etc). This way you can check-in physically before 16:00.

Hong KongThere are not much nice restaurant nearby yet it is convenient to travel to other spots by JR.
It is quite near the Ueno station and you can walk to Ueno Park on foot by footbridge in 7 min. I feel safe that the whole floor is only available to female travellers. It is secure that it requires specific access card for customer to get to there floor. One good thing to mention, there is a room for you to do your hair styling, make-up. You can every basic thing you need for skincare and hair styling.

United States of AmericaOnly 1 elevator. Not as many restaurants nearby compared to other parts of Ueno. Room was not soundproof from all the trains passing by.

AustraliaHad to pay extra to rent a bath towel
Super convenient location to Ueno station. Staff were friendly and let us keep our ski bags at the accommodation early before check in. Check in process was easy, just filled in online form. Had a whole bunk room to ourselves, rooms were very clean and bunks all had privacy curtains and charging points/lights but beds were quite firm. Shared bathrooms were all clean.

United States of AmericaMy only complaint is that while it's a hostel/hotel, I would say the vibe of the place resonated more with a hotel. I was hoping to meet people while staying here but unfortunately didn't really seem like the place for that. To some this may be a bonus!
The location was not too bad, right next to Ueno station which makes the touristy spots of Tokyo accessible, however public transport does stop running by midnight. The room was very clean, dark, which made it easy to sleep in, and quiet, thanks to those I shared my room with. The amenities are nice and for the ladies, there was hair dryers, and even a curling/straightener available for use, which is a bonus.
