Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeThe resort is some ways from major cities.
Breakfast was ok but you need to reserve your timing ahead. The onsen was ok but not spectacular. There are some complimentary drinks outside the onsen which was nice. Staff are helpful but limited English is spoken. Nice view of Gamagori Beach (esp. sunrise).

Was one of the very few hotels that accepts tattoos in the onsens, so we were graetful. The Onsens were stunning though & it was well worth the journey to go here and experience the tradition.

JapanThe onsens were a bit small, so if you go when there are many people I don't think it would be very comfortable. The buffets were only okay, with some of the food served being cold and not many desserts. The best part was for sure the made to order selections like steak and tempura. The gift shop on site doesn't have many snack options so I recommend bringing some work you if you intend on drinking/snacking. The futons were not very comfortable.
I really enjoyed that they are accepting of tattoos and allow tattooed people inside the onsens openly. The shuttle service to and from the train station is very convenient. The assortment of baths was nice to experience multiple types of onsens. My husband really enjoyed the coffee bar near the lobby.

JapanGamagori is a cool little town with a lovely seaside vibe. The ryokan has great service, comfortable rooms, and of course the baths. The lounge with record players, piano, and reading area is a great place to hang out, and the self service coffee bar is a nice touch.

JapanI probably have stayed in better Ryokan before so my expectations went a little too high for this one. What threw me off was the mediocre buffet dinner as I was expecting a 懐石料理 whenever I visit a Ryokan. I honestly wouldn't mind paying extra just to have that. It would be nice if they could offer an option to choose whether a buffet or 懐石料理. Maybe it's incomparable with those at Sendai or Kyoto, it was almost like a self-served experience so I didn't get the warm welcome from arriving at the front of the Ryokan, getting into our room, to leaving the Ryokan. Hotel-like check-in and check-out. Overall they could just call it a "Hotel with traditional Washitsu." They have a note in Japanese informing the local customers that there are lots of foreign tourists using the Ryokan and might behave differently due to cultural differences. At the same time, they have different language notes and guides for foreigners using the bathroom. I noticed that the English guide was translated slightly differently from the Japanese language. It is misleading if you want foreign customers to understand Japanese culture. I do not like to say this but the recent drama from that hotel CM kind of proves its' point if you have stayed in a Ryokan like this one.
Shout out to the friendly chef who was serving steak and the restaurant staff that night gave us a very warm and welcoming experience. Staff are making our trip successful. Thank you! The vinyl player was a very nice touch and gave us a relaxing moment. Friends of mine used the public bath but due to the detailed introduction by the friendly staff, they didn't explore as much as they have the featured cave-designed bath area.

SingaporeThe aircon in the living room is faulty, does not remain on the whole time, but rather set at a timer which can be really irritating
The amenities & facilities available is definitely worth the travel. Particularly the onsen public bath pools, they have both indoor & outdoor versions to choose from. Will definitely come back, but probably in autumn/ winter

United Arab EmiratesThe AC is really outdated. No matter which setting we put it, it would constantly turn on and off the whole night. While it was off, the room got hot and stuffy really quickly. Then when the AC would turn on again, the room chilled really fast. The whole night it was the battle of putting the blanket on and off constantly.
You do have to take a taxi from the train station to get to the hotel as walking there would be impossible. Taxi's are available right outside the station and they know the area well. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Lovely traditional room! Had dinner and breakfast. Lots of traditional Japanese food but staff are helpful if you are unsure what the items are. There are western food available. But if you are fussy, I would recommend grabbing food from the convenience store before getting there. We had only 1 night stay and didn't have a chance to use the hot springs. Will give it a go next time when the weather is cooler.
