Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaI never expect ppl to speak English when I'm in their country. But when the ad for the hostel says that English is widely spoken by the staff, then I expect that. This is not the case at all So I was a little confused about that.
The big room is very comfy.

United States of AmericaThe door is coded and alarmed after 9 pm and it is very sensitive and fickle. You touch it too hard and the alarm goes off. You type in the wrong code and the alarm goes off. The wind blows too hard and the alarm goes off and stays on until someone goes outside, punches in the code once to turn it off and again to get back in and lock it. This was annoying when we had to do this several times when sitting in the reception area at night.
Cozy little spot if you are staying in Hirosaki. Just a couple minutes walk from the train station so it's very easy to get in and out. There's two options for dorm beds. One is a normal size twin bed and the other is a slightly larger full size bed. Both are fine, but I'm glad I chose the bigger bed. The hostel has all the facilities you need like clean showers and toilet, a kitchen and cheap laundry machine. There's also a little refrigerator with some local apple juice and drinks that you can buy stuff from and just drop your money on an honor system into a little coin bank. Really enjoyed my stay here since it was easily to get around.

GermanyExtremely nice amenities! Feels like newly built. Beds are kinda capsule-like with a shutter in front, gives you lots of privacy. I didn't expect a hostel with such high standards in a rather small town like Hirosaki and was very pleasantly surprised. Plus, value was outstanding. Also, it's just a minute's walk from the station.

Very near the train and bus stations. Easy to drop off bags for storage before check-in and the check-in itself was smooth. Friendly staff - there was an elderly couple with limited English but plenty of smiles. Everything was clean and the capsule bed space was spacious. Small lockers for valuables available. The kitchen is small and functional. Complimentary filter machine coffee was good. Washing machine 100 yen and Dryer 100 yen.

GermanyThere are quite a lot of people in one room, which is not a big problem in the sense that there is private space for everyone, but as there are only curtains to close these spaces and people have different schedules it is hard to sleep in the evening and/or morning time when others are still or already awake and continuously make some noise. Also I assume that as the whole atmosphere is a little anonymous, people might be less careful about being quiet. In general I think that although there is a common space it was not so easy to interact with other guests.
Exceptional cleanliness. The whole building seems to be very new. Furthermore the staff was very professional and the whole concept of the hostel is good, e.g. there is a place to leave luggage after check-out. Also the privacy is high for hostel standards, it resembles a capsule hotel.

NorwayNot a very social atmosphere, but this is generally the deal in Japan so I don't really blame the hostel.
Short walk from the train station and easy to find. Spacious rooms with good size lockers and big comfortable bed. Staff is also very helpful. They have a room for storing luggage in addition to free coffee and use of washing machine. About a 20-25 minute walk to Hirosaki Castle. Clean and quiet.

United KingdomThe sleeping space was a little too hot, as I stayed on a particularly hot night.
The bed was large and comfy and the capsule was spacious. The adjustable lighting was great and the desk was a nice surprise and proved very useful. The blankets/towels were provided and very nice. The whole place was spotless except the capsule's ventilation was a little dusty. The communal kitchen area was also useful. Check-in and check-out were both painless.

JapanThe hostel would benefit from installing automatic soft closing door mechanisms. Guests frequently left the doors of the domitory area open, meaning noise from the kitchen and bathroom could be heard while trying to sleep.
The hostel is easy to access from Hirosaki station and the staff were friendly upon arrival and tried their best with my limited Japanese. The bedroom capsule and facilities were clean. The laundry facilities were also free which was a nice suprise! Over all I enjoyed my stay here.

JapanThe staff member who received (a woman), despite knowing but a few words of English, did her beat to soeak at a level of JapaneseI coukd understand and showed me one by one the hostal’s facilities. after thia, nothing could prevent my feeling welcome. Even if that had not been the case, the installations arencorean and comfortable, they probide as much privacy as can be expected from a shared dormitory in a hostal, and practically every tourist atttra(all of them, in fact, if youbextend the concept of ‘walkin distance’ a bit) are within waking distance of the hostal.
