Once at the property the staff was friendly and professional, but online before arrival they were very cold and almost rude in their replies, and not accommodating at all. I almost cancelled my booking because of this. Dorms are a bit smelly/stuffy (perhaps windows are never open even during daytime?), and the air exhaust is quite noisy even with earplugs. But ok given the hyper convenient location.

The location was logistically superb. 5' walk from super central Kawaramachi station and 1' from Gion-Shijou station; across the road from the Kamo river and next door from Gion's famous tourist areas. All common areas and dorms are clean, and mats are spacious and very comfortable, with plenty of plugs for every guests to recharge phones and stuff.

Sometimes folks in the dorm were a bit noisy, it is a hostel so don’t expect a quiet hotel experience. But everyone quieted down at a reasonable hour usually.

Meticulously clean. The showers were nice (good hot water and water pressure). We had a private room which was small but more spacious than some accommodation in Japan! The wifi worked well. Location was really great - right in Gion but a bit quieter side street right near the river.

The limitation of storing baggages give you less fixibility in your schedule. The type of bed they use make you hard to place things on the bed if you're on the upper one.

No curtains and no bed build for privacy. Slept very poor due to the automatic light on the bathroom. And bed close to it. Creeky beds and my pillow fell off due to the low line border aha. Felt for the price a little curtain or light devision would of been great I had an eye mask and rear plugs also.

The location is fantastic. A street away from the gion magic. Lots to see and good bus/tram connections plus the river!! In the heart of it all it feels. A little balcony and some basic lounge and drink station. Easy place to meet people The staff super lovely and very helpful and genuine. USB on the bed. Loved the glow stickers on the ladder. Very clever. Laundry facilities

Amazing location! I only booked because it seemed like the only reasonably priced option in Kyoto and I wasn't expecting much but there was lots of space, never had to queue for the bathroom, and it was nice and clean.

Maybe the hostel boys (who are present at the bar during the day and evening) may seem to be cold (but that's perhaps tourists come and go and don't always follow their rules).

We LOVED the location and stay at the hostel. We were very close to two useful stations, our room was facing the Kamo River and the hostel is adjacent to the Shirakawa river! We got a private room at a reasonable rate, the beds were super comfortable and we had our own toilet. The shower were also really clean. The sake bar owners are super chill as well, they were jamming to Def Leppard :D a big thumbs up!

No curtains on the bunk bed so no much privacy. Common room was tiny, could only fit 4/5 people around a small table so not much atmosphere.

There is no elevator or kitchen. The toilet in the dorm runs constantly all night long.

The biggest selling point of this hostel is its location. It is within walking distance to several bus stops and train stations. Lots of shopping malls, pedestrian malls, stores and restaurants are in the neighborhood. The place is spotless and the staff is friendly.

It will be better if there could be curtains that hide each bed and individual LED lights inside each "Cell".

The location is so close to the Gion Shijo bridge. From the belcony, there is a nice view of the Kamogawa River bank. Checking-out is super easy. Staff are very kind. It is also allowed to keep the luggage in the hostel after checking out.
