Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe booked a private room, but it didn’t feel all that private. The walls are literally paper thin. You could hear people type on their keyboard in the common room next door as if you were in the same room. The door doesn’t lock either, although we felt very safe so it wasn’t much of a problem for us. The cupboard in the room was full of sheets and towels so there was nowhere to put our bags. Also the kitchen was tiny and ill equipped for making anything more than instant ramen so don’t expect to save money by not going to restaurants. We would recommend to book a dorm there, the private room did not feel good value.
The location is great, very close to the Geisha district in a cute neighbourhood. Staff were very friendly and the common area was peaceful.

United KingdomCommunal space to chill was small, and the staff were sitting in the space all night so nowhere to relax other than in bed. Bedroom was filled with stuff, I’m guessing long term guests, but felt a bit cramped
Lovely spot great location. Cute guesthouse, clean bathroom & toilet. Space to make food if you want

SpainI arrived with another guest by 12:30pm and there was nobody in the house to check us in. I felt a bit like trespassing as the door was opened so I just went in and left my stuff. The beds didn’t have individual plugs so if you happen to get the upper bunk bed then you might not be able to charge and keep your devices close to you (unless your charger has a really long cable). There’s just 1 bathroom in all the house.
It’s a traditional guesthouse and it’s located at walking distance of the main attractions. Quite a walk though (25’-30’). Bed was hard yet comfy enough for me. If you happen to go in a group and can rent all the beds in the room it might be fine. Otherwise I’d just recommend to stay not more than 1 night. The private room was located just next to our dorm so absolutely no soundproof at all. Still you get what you pay for so it ain’t bad.

FinlandWe were expecting to be greeted upon check-in, but the staff member working that day had instead decided to leave for the town festival and did not answer the phone despite numerous attempts to reach her. We had even communicated in advance the approximate time of our arrival so having no one tell us which room was ours or where to put our stuff was quite annoying after a long trip to get there. The owner/keeper who greeted us in the evening after we got back from sightseeing was a really nice man and kindly showed us the ropes of the place.
The private room is spacious and was cool even during a very hot day, and is conveniently located right by the toilet and bathroom. The futons in the room were really comfortable and we slept great. But make sure to bring earplugs, because the walls are literally paper so you can hear everything from the adjacent living room and hallway . Also remember to bring your own towel as the place does not offer this. The guest house is quite a walk from the main station, but bus stops (also ones for JR Buses covered by the JR Pass, or for the loop line) are close. The Kenrokuen garden is also at a walking distance.

New ZealandHonestly, the only good thing about this place was the location. Our room was not only dirty (hair in between the futons, mouse poo on the floor, cobwebs & dust all around the ceilings and what looked like coffee spilt all down the wall), but it was right beside the only shower & toilet (for 12+ people), and there was no way to lock the room from the outside. We had to ask multiple times for people to keep their voices down after 11pm as the walls are paper thin & you could honestly hear someone fart from the other side of the hostel. As expected, people were up from 6am making noise, so you'll be lucky to get 6 hours sleep, even with earplugs in. The bathroom was disgusting - mould all around the fittings, ceiling and walls + the shower head was off centre to the bath, and just ended up soaking the whole space. There is no working sink in the toilet, so good luck washing your hands while the bathroom is in use. The kitchen was filthy, with a food left on the sink & a bag of rubbish left in there for over 24 hours - when we woke up the second day it reeked of fish & whatever else had been dumped in there. I honestly wished we had of spent a little more for a hotel.

CanadaCleanliness of shared amenities such as kitchen and bathroom could have been more attended too. Also, pre heating the room for guests prior to check in would be appreciated - especially in the colder months as the room was very cold. Unfortunately our winter blankets available in the closet of our room made us feel uncomfortable as they had what appeared to be mouse droppings on them.
The room was visually appealing, with a traditional Japanese style. The exterior of the property was very lovely. Location was also convenient, very near to amenities and local attractions.

AustraliaThe bathroom setup was awkward and annoying. I read the reviews and thought oh I can handle one bathroom and toilet between up to 12 people but the issue is the sink in the toilet is broken, so there is only one bathroom related sink in the whole house. So you have to wait to wash your hands after the toilet, in line, potentially until someone has finished their shower. If you would like to stay here i suggest staying one night only went go to the public Onsen (6 minutes walk) in the evening to have your shower etc. The place could also be cleaner, and there is not much communal space to hang out relax in. As much as I appreciated the staff’s helpfulness and friendliness I would not stay here again.
Extremely friendly staff, so nice and helpful. Great location right near a JR pass bus stop and near laundry and sight seeing places.
