Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe staff are exceptional! Room is very comfortable and beautiful. The baths are beautiful as well. It was amazing to also have access to the other 6 famous onsen of Kinosaki, along with the use of Yukata and Geta for the duration of our stay.

NetherlandsWe got a futon with a dirty sheets, so we had to ask for replacing it.
Beautiful ryokan close to the forest, so if you are lucky you can see wild animals at night. The staff was very friendly. With the price you get the voucher for Kinosaki onsens so you can use them for free. The room was specious with the nice view.

CanadaThe orange and citrus onsen experience was a little over played. The regular onsens at the hotel were nicer.
The team was great, even sorting a shuttle for us when the shuttle was full and we were at risk of missing our train.

FranceYuraku was an amazing ryokan. On top of access to all the public baths of Kinosaki, the hotel provides gorgeous private baths that you can enjoy alone. If warned in advance, Yuraku also caters for particular food requirements and prepared us delicious vegetarian kaiseki food for both diner and breakfast. We greatly appreciated this possibility which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience of the ryokan. All the staff was extremely kind, helpful and discreet, and we were particularly amaze that Yuta, who took care of the diner, made the effort to translate the menu in French and was able to speak few words with us to present us the different dishes. The room is beautiful and so is the view on the garden where we even spotted a monkey sneaking through the bamboo grove! We would go back and recommend without hesitating.

United KingdomFantastic peaceful hotel at the top of Kinosaki. The staff were very helpful and the ryokan was lovely. I was helped on how to wear yukata, use the onsen’s and book a private one at the ryokan. The Japanese bed was very comfortable. The Japanese breakfast was great. I had an explanation of what it was, what it went with and a print out in English of what I had been given. My room was at the back over looking the beautiful hillside gardens, which were lit up in the evening. The ryokan is a 1 minute walk from the top of where the Main Street starts and about 3mins to the closest public onsen. The walk to the last is 20mins. It is about 3mins to the ropeway up the hill to the temple and the path if you want to walk. I really enjoyed my stay.

United KingdomThere's not really anything I can add here, to whole experience was great.
Great for a more traditional Japanese experience. Although there wasn't much of a common language between us and the staff, they were very friendly and helpful and tried their best to communicate with us. The room itself was really spacious with very comfortable futons. The breakfast we had definitely isn't for everyone, but really added to the traditional Japanese experience and is worth a try. Their private baths are also so nice. I tried the flower bath, they also have an apple and orange bath. All have their namesake floating in them

NetherlandsNothing - we loved everything.
Our stay at Yuraku Spa & Gardens was simply perfect. We were immediately amazed about the attentive, kind and friendly staff. They made sure to keep us comfortable and show us around the hotel, give tips regarding the baths, wearing yukatas, etc. Our room was beautiful, with an amazing view of the mountain, forest and hotel garden. Even though the location is at the end of Kinosaki onsen (a bit further than other options), everything is walkable. What set this place apart from what was already amazing was the food. We expected good quality cuisine, but nothing near what we had for both dinner and breakfast. Fresh and delicious local produce, making a menu that checked almost all of the boxes in our japanese cuisine bucket list. Thanks to all the staff in the hotel and kitchen for making our stay unforgettable, and a needed rest before the remainder of our trip.

AustraliaIt is a little bit of a walk from the busier parts of town that have a higher concentration of onsen. This wouldn’t be a problem ordinarily, but it was quite cold when we were staying there, and walking back in the cold was not very fun.
The staff were incredibly attentive, helpful and friendly. Their private baths, breakfasts, yukatas and general service were all great. Also they had the most comfortable futons I’ve ever slept on.

The room was very clean and welcoming. You are able to visit other onsens in the area with a QRcode provided by Yuraku. The food is really good and we enjoyed the service by all the staff in the ryokan. The location was next to a bridge with sakura trees at one side of the riverbank. Good to take a stroll in the neighbourhood with the yukata provided. The onsen experience was good even though it rained on the day we arrived.

SwedenCould have had a more cosy and accessible bar to sit and relax in between baths and after dinner. Would be more cozy with one large mattres instead of two small that drifted apart during night.
