Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandGreat traditional room - probably bigger than some of the other rooms we had travelling over the month. Fantastic island to stay at and it was great to experience a local stay. Breakfast was very basic but also very cheap if you wanted something when you woke up. While the bathroom was small the shower had good pressure which we weren't expecting. Awesome area to stay in so many walks to do, while it rained both days we really enjoyed our time. You get to see the port from your bedroom window which was lovely. Make sure you try the street Curry Oyster buns - Amazing!!!

New ZealandNo issues at all!
Location was amazing, super close to the ferry terminal and a short walk to the main attractions on the island. Staff spoke good English and were incredibly courteous, they also gave us some great recommendations on good places to eat nearby. Breakfast was the best value we had for our entire trip through Japan! The bread was so yummy!!

United KingdomThe room and bathroom are quite small, but we had expected this. It didn’t take away from the enjoyment of our stay. There is also access to public bath on the lower floor of the hotel, and our floor had a shared shower room which was much more spacious and really handy - I popped in here to do my make up as there was more room for me to lay out my products
We had a lovely stay at Sakuraya! The location was ideal, really close to the ferry port and main sites of the island. The room was so tranquil and cosy, we loved being able to lie on our comfy futons with the balcony door open and enjoy the sounds of nature. We were pleasantly surprised that we could use the public bath, as we have tattoos.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't like was cold scrambled eggs at breakfast. Breakfast was included free, so I hate to complain, but they hadn't just cooled down, they were served stone cold, as if intentional. Some Japanese foibles are hard to get used to, this was one of them.
This is a lovely hotel with Japanese style room, tatami mats and futons, very comfortable, all amenities and a good size. We had a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel with a view of the lagoon, and the location was excellent, very near the ferry landing, two minutes walk to the main restaurant street and only five minutes walk to the famous red tori gate and shrine. The staff were lovely and very helpful. I had wanted to spend a night on Miyajima ever since my first day visit eleven years ago, and this hotel was the ideal place to stay to fulfil that ambition.

United KingdomThe room had a bit of a smell to it. It was clean but an odor that I couldn’t place. The bathroom sufficed but was very cramped.
The location was great! Very close to ferry, the Torii gate, shopping, etc. The price was very cheap. The staff was lovely as well.

SwitzerlandPerfect location, 5 min by foot from the ferry terminal in Miyajima and 5 min from the famous shrine. The staff was very nice. We got a Japanese-sttle room with tatami, tea table, cute kimono pyjamas and a small private bathroom. The view was great on both the seaside and mountain, though we had booked only a mountain view. There's also a public bath.

AustraliaI would 100% recommend staying on the island if possible. You get to watch the sunset without the worry of last ferries or an hour commute back to Hiroshima. Then you can get up early for the sunrise or first ropeway to the of the island at 9am before the day trippers start showing up. This was our first experience with futtons they were super comfy. Our room had a private toilet but shared shower. Shower was occupied when we checked but just went down to the baths to wash up there instead. If you get lucky the bath will be empty for a quick soak. You can beat $5 AUD for breakfast, even if a little unconventional (toast, jam, lettuce and tomato, cold sweet scambled eggs, with a juice and coffee)

United KingdomAlthough it didn't become an issue for us, the soundproofing between rooms isn't the best. We were prepared and had ear plugs but as I said, any noise died down at a reasonable hour and we had peaceful nights.
This is a small hotel but superbly located on the sea front. There are only a few rooms facing the sea and we weren't able to get them for both our nights, but we did get one for our second night. Well worth the extra few yen! The staff were very helpful and kind. The breakfast at 500 JPY was perfectly adequate. They have a little bar on the ground floor. All in all, very happy with our choice.
