Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaWe had a relaxing stay at Yunoshimakan. It felt like an escape into the mountains, being perfectly situated just on the edge of town, but seemingly in its own world. Exploring this large traditional ryokan is an activity in itself. The outdoor onsen facilities were excellent. We could enjoy them even when it rained heavily, as they provided straw hats to serve as an umbrella of sorts. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast courses were thoroughly enjoyable. The dining hall provided nice views into the forest. The shuttle service to and from the train station was well appreciated. Will return again.

United States of AmericaNot the fault of the hotel, but there was a very loud and annoying karaoke that echoed clearly up to the room from town at 10pm each night. It would have been nice to have been able to eat breakfast in the fresh air, or have a to-go option.
The building was beautiful, the surrounding forest and garden were beautiful, the views were stunning, and it was such a luxury to have our own onsen and access to the hotel baths as well. We were lucky to have good weather, and it was so comfortable to keep the large window open and have a fresh breeze through a screen whenever we liked. All the staff we met were friendly, welcoming, and eager to explain things even when we didn’t speak the same language. The vegetarian breakfast was delicious and filling, and the two mornings we were there they offered some variety.

SingaporeIf you don't like a too old building and lacking of the facility. this is not the place for you. and also dining may not be up to expectations with the high price.
Depends on what you like about Onsen Hotel. It has a history with old-time vibe. The room is cozy. and the newer building also has an indoor bath. but old main building room has no indoor bath.

JapanThe JR line only goes out every 2 hours so if you miss it, you have a long wait at Nagoya Station.
The ryokan was huge and extremely spacious. Our private onsen in the room was so relaxing and exactly what i needed.

CanadaSTUNNING. Right out of Spirited away, the onsens were beautiful we did the private onsens in the room as well as reserved one of the private ones downstairs. They were really wonderful. My husband did both of the public ones and said they were fully equipped and stunning. I did not see these as I do have tattoos. They did as if I could cover them so I think if you brought something to cover up (not bathing suits) you would be fine. They had a very convenient bus pick us up from the station and take us back. Dinner was huge and quite a stunning adventure as was breakfast?

SpainThe beautiful location in the woods (yet close to the city, 4~ mins). The spectacular labyrinth-like structure of the whole hotel that makes you want to explore it entirely (reminded us of The Shining hotel). They even have a gamified "quest" of collecting stamps in different parts of the building to make you visit memorable spots. The surprising victorian furniture of the Karaoke room and its very friendly employees, had a great night singing and drinking in there. The size of the room.

Saudi ArabiaI guess the floor futon wasnt that comfortable to my back that's used to beds. But it was an experience.
Absolutely Stunning! From the building which is an old bath house from the 1930s! Which is also HUGE! Litterally i was lost a few times in it. And the natural landscape surrounding it. My room had a private bath which had a beautiful view as well it felt from a painting the dinner was top notch one of the best Ive ever had In japan beware tho it was a 14 course meal 🤣 I got full mid way. You need to starve yourself for days to be able to finish it. Lastly the Breakfast was average. I also liked that they have a shuttle from the station 👍

CroatiaWe liked everything. The room bath, the public baths, the foot bath, the staff, the garden, everything was perfect!! The room was very spacious, and the view… If you don’t book the dinner don’t worry, you will not be hungry as there is a small restaurant in the hotel with a few dishes (snacks) on the menu and it’s not as pricy as that fancy Japanese dinner (but it’s probably not as big either :D)

AustraliaNothing! Loved it all!
This place is just so special. It was built in the 1930s and just has such a beautiful charm. From the moment you walk in you feel like you have stepped back in time. The building is older and rambling but it oozes charm and the staff are delightful. The food is amazing and each meal is such an adventure. All the staff were amazing but a special thank you to Meyu who was so wonderful and kind.

United KingdomI did get a bit lost in regards to the outdoors onsen, the sign posting was not clear and I couldnt take the map with me inside the onsen. While it was a steep walk there and back from the town, the view was gorgeous.
The room was big and clean. The friendliness of staff made me feel very welcome. I was able to get a massage and even though the person did not speak English, the print out sheet was easy to understand and we were able to communicate enough. The onsen was phenomenal.

SingaporeThe check in process at the lobby was rather chaotic and messy, especially when the hotel shuttle bus brought in more than 20 people at a time.
The dinner was excellent. The Hida beef was fantastic. The private onsen in the hotel room was great. The Futon beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel shuttle bus was convenient.

JapanThe hotel is quite large and it can be hard to navigate your way from room to public bath. It took at least ten minutes from door to door. Service was good but, being such a large place, a but impersonal.
Yunoshimakan is an historic property on the hillside above Gero Onsen town. It's split into two main buildings and it seems that rooms vary. I enjoyed my room, with onsen bathtub inside the bathroom but it had a slight view of the hillside below. Food was served in the room and the staff serving me was lovely. I thought the special fruit liquor tasting set was a great accompaniment to my meal. The footbath on the property was a fun touch and the front gardens were beautiful with the changing leaves.

The private indoor hot spring was a great touch, but the open-air onsen was truly on another level. I want my wife to give birth there but the baby probably wouldn't like that, and neither would the newborn

BrazilI have absolutely no complains.
The stations is relatively far form the hotel, but they offer a transfer for free, at several times a day. The hotel is awesome, the view is beautiful from all facilites and the room. The public onsen DOES accept people with tattoos, is very clean, theres an inside and outside option, with space to take a shower before, and includes shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, fece toner and lotion, hair drier... All the employees are very polite and helpful, and all the processes, like serving the diner in the room and disposing the traditional beds are done by traditional Japanese protocol.
