Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Low ceiling above the bed.
Quiet neighborhood in the outskirts of a very small town, very close to the beginning of the trail leading to the sand dunes.

There was no kitchen annex. There was no table to sit around and eat. Plates and cutlery were just lying on the fridge.
Appartment was clean. Hosts were nice and spoke English

Host was not prepared to meet us: we arrived around 15:20 while check-in should have been available at 15:00. At first she told us to come back later as the room is not ready yet but I refused and required to either provide us with other room or look how it might be ready as soon as possible. Because of that the host cleaned the room and let us in. Only when we entered the room we noticed that garbage bin was not cleaned and doubted about cleanliness of the remaining room. We were not introduced with any other common areas of the guest house: shared kitchen, living room, garden.
Room was spacious with beautiful view. Even we stays on a very hot day, temperature in the room remained pleasant. There were all the things we needed for our stay.

There is no air conditioner. The room temperature was the same or even hotter than outside. The bath heaters' temperature is not adjustable and the heat comes to the main room. The temperature in the bathroom is more than 30 degrees. Very poor communication via booking platform, no response to messages. There is no privacy as the host lives together in the same house.
The host is super friendly. The parking lot free of charge was provided. Close to the city center.

As we arrived, the host stated that someone already occupied our room. Now, following that we had a lengthy conversation about how to resolve it and it was chaotic and the staff were really incompetent and irresponsible. To sum things up: • Even though we were booked first, the host accepted someone else to the apartment before we arrived, even though the name of the visitor was different then mine. Noone bothered to contact me and clarify the situation. • The host and the staff were really reluctant to take responsibility and tried shifting the blame to Booking, despite them being the ones managing their booking section. • As we heard conversation over the phone, it was clear that the person responsible for managing booking was really confused, lacked competence and had no idea how to resolve the situation. • The personel tried to persuade us that "we probably don't need beds anyway", were considering to accomodate both booked parties in the same room, asked us "whether we really need the room", and also suggested us renting somewhere else (which is not really possible as everything is booked in Nida). Furthermore, at some point when we had more questions, the host acted as a victim, questioning us "why are we making her so much trouble". • We were ensured this never happens, but I really have doubts due to seeing how the staff operates, the flaws were too evident. It's not like this situation was ill-intended, but the staff were really in denial about the situation and have very little idea about proper customer service. Eventually, we did get the room and the other people had to look for a place somewhere else. A very unpleasant situation for both client parties, and a really poor response of the staff. The best course of action would be the staff finding a new apartment for the clients that didn't get the room and paying the difference for the rent.
Good quality of the apartment, quiet place.

We had a room mix up. We got a room, went out and found all our belongings moved to a new room without any information. Someone just picked our stuff, keys, cards, documents and put it into a new room. That was unpleasant.
