Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe were expecting to stay at the boutique hotel, but we ended up having to carry a heavy suitcase down a large number of steps as we were in the luciano Porto Hotel and we had to climb back up these steps every morning for breakfast.
The staff and the room were lovely. We had a view of the harbour from our balcony. Although we weren't expecting to stay at the luciano Porto accommodation. I have said the property met my expectations, but it would have been better if we had received an email to say where we were staying.

LithuaniaIt was too noisy, there’s a bar downstairs. Also I prefer a buffet breakfast rather than like this without even a menu and no much choice.
The location is the center, the room was with two floors and very nice interior.

United KingdomThe property we stayed in was down 2 hills - 1 a steep slope and 1 with a heap of steps. Fine for me, but not for a husband on crutches, elderly parents and someone with an arthritic knee. We should have been advised before we arrived that the rooms we had booked were being refurbished and so could not stay in the location I had picked ie at the top of the hills!!! We could then have made an informed decision on changing locations. They had expected we would walk up to breakfast each morning but I refused and so we were served a very substantial continental breakfast at the alternative venue, so thanks to the staff for sorting that out.
Despite it not being the property we had booked, the property we stayed in was excellent. The staff were very attentive at breakfast and the location was good for exploring the Grand Harbour area, Fab view over to the 3 cities

MaltaThere are several problems that need to be solved First of all, the beds were very soft and unstable. I asked in the booking for a double bed and they put us in 2 single. Secondly, there was a lot of noise, we couldn't sleep well. From the street as it was completely central, from the church across the street where the bell rang every quarter continuously, from renovation they were doing on the floor (which we were aware of when we made the reservation) but it was very loud from 9 am even the weekend. Moreover because it was a holiday and the church had a terrible noise from the bell and music plus on Sunday the same. It's not the hotel's fault but it's something somebody should keep in mind. Thirdly, there wasn't even a reception desk if you needed anything you had to tell someone from the restaurant which was a mess and they couldn't serve you many times although they were nice. I don't care about a reception but when you are going in a hotel is something useful. Fourth, the sockets were all UK type and only one EU in which we had to put at least 4 devices, including the hair dryer they had, where it was of this type. Of course, one socket was not enough for us. We asked for an adapter. We were told there were behind the tv but there not exist any, and we had to stay with one, which was a hassle. When you only use something you should have adaptors everywhere to serve guests as I think there are a lot of Europeans who will have the same problem. Finally, the elevator was inside the restaurant you need to go through each time. It works during the restaurant's hours and the rest you have to make the circle going by the stairs which are quite a lot. It certainly didn't bother me and I knew it as I had seen it in other comments.
The room is totally in the center of Valletta everything is nearby in walking distance of 5 min. The stuff is very polite and serviceable, they give all the useful information you will ask for. The room was clean and had hot water all the time. The room was satisfactory has a good decoration and had a street view. It was quite warm. The a/c is working well. Downside there was a restaurant where you can find everything you need to drink or eat and also there is an elevator.

PortugalThe beds were not comfortable and had an iron bed end = ot great for tall people. Also , not the hotles fault but the big bell in the area went off every 45 minutes to hour all night??? Not sure why they think that is a good idea but we had no sleep as a result.
Proximity to all the cafes and restuarants. The room was a good size and clean.Staff helpful and friendly.

United KingdomI was there on business and the location was central to bars and restaurants so a bit noisy but if I was on holiday it would have been great!
Room was very spacious and although on the third floor there was a lift. I also ate lunch there, food good and prices reasonable. Staff really helpful and I was able to leave my luggage in reception when I arrived before check-in and left after check -in.

United KingdomThe bathroom was a bit tired. However, renovations were going on, so perhaps this will be rectified.
Wanted to spend a day in Valletta after a trip to Gozo, and the Luciano was the perfect base. It’s located in the heart of the old town, and is a short, but steep walk from the high speed ferry. A charming property with bags of character.
