Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe air conditioning system did not function well and there was a very musty smell when we entered our first room. Even though the repairmen came to clean the filters and repair the air conditioning system, we had to change rooms as the problem remained despite their efforts. Our 2nd bedroom was much better in terms of air conditioning temperature and a fresh smell, so we were very pleased with this room change. The cleaning staff came daily to clean our room, however, there were inconsistencies such as forgotten facecloths, lack of a top sheet on our bed one day. A checklist would definitely assist the cleaning staff to avoid these issues.
The rooms are spacious and airy. We had sheers for privacy in the day and heavy drapes for nighttime. The room had a King Size bed. And there was plenty of space to store our clothes in the large night table drawers and the small walk-in. The bathrooms are large with rain shower, hand held shower, a separate tub and double sinks. We loved the L’Occitane soaps and shampoo although we were surprised that there was no conditioner or body cream which is standard in every other resort. The food served in the specialty restaurants was excellent. Both pools and the beach area were beautifully maintained. We found that the Royal Hideaway Adults Only beach was the best when compared to the other resort beaches along the beach front. They had less space, fewer mature palm trees for shade and the beach chairs were crowded together. The services of our concierge, Karla, were excellent. Karla’s attention to our requests were above and beyond our expectations. Every staff member was helpful and very friendly.

United States of AmericaImpossible to get a chair by the pool. The resort had half of them reserved for people who never showed up. And other individuals would reserve chairs with a book and not be there for most of the day. Need better control of the situation.
The service was excellent. Great food and drink options. Beach was clean and beautiful!

New ZealandThe check in staff seriously let this resort down. They are surly, unhelpful and rude. Our check in took ages and the staff member was irritated throughout the whole process. There was no bell boy to meet us on arrival, resulting in us having to carry our own suitcases up the stairs to reception. We were not told that you had to make dinner reservations for the restaurants otherwise you can’t get in. We were not told about the very strict dress code which resulted, on our first night being threatened with security if we didn’t leave the restaurant. Appalling behavior for a resort which promotes itself as being high end. Overall your check in staff need retraining and some lessons in customer courtesy and certainly just general good manners. We have travelled extensively throughout the world and always the check in staff give you a basic rundown of the resort. Hopefully you can address this issue and others don’t have to experience what we did.
The resort is lovely, very spacious, beautiful grounds and well laid out. Very large rooms with dressing room, spa bath, separate toilet and shower room. Very comfy bed and a lovely outlook over the tropical garden and water feature running through the grounds. Mini bar is replenished each day with soft drinks, beer and snacks. Each villa block has a concierge/butler to answer any questions, make restaurant bookings etc. Beach is very clean with beautiful white sand. There is drink and food service around the pools and beach. There is also a lifeguard on the beach. There are daily activities around the pool area if you wish to partake, games, aqua aerobics etc. There are five restaurants but be aware you have to pre book them otherwise you can’t enter, something we were not told on check in and this created some issues until we worked out the system. Also the three top restaurants Azia, Palazzo & Ventanas have a strict dress code for men, covered shoes, long trousers & collared shirts. They other two The Grill and Spices allow dress shorts in the evening. Once again this was not pointed out to us on check in. Staff are overall friendly and helpful. Overall apart from a few annoyances which I will cover below we had a lovely relaxing week at this resort.

United States of AmericaThe service was not always the most accommodating (some people were great and others not so much). The rooms AC didn't seem to work well (although we tried to switch rooms other rooms seemed even worse, but we spoke to some guests who didn't have any issues with this). The average age at the resort was much older than me and my sisters which was a bit unexpected. They were lacking some more casual mexican food staples like tacos. The water in the bathtub of the room was a yellow/brown...the whole place was a bit outdated and could use some modernization.
The food was definitely good and the beach at that location was nice and big. They also had cornhole and volleyball that guests could play at the resort. The drinks were easy to get and we never had a problem with beach chairs (although pool were harder to claim). They put on some fun events like a silent disco, Karaoke, a couple bands, etc. They were very accommodating to my sisters gluten allergy and helped with special requests like a birthday cake. If you want more of a younger club/party vibe this is not necessarily the place for you.

United States of AmericaThe women at the check-in desk was bad at her job. She took forever to do anything. A friend used a resort pass to visit me. This woman repeatedly asked for her passport even though she had already seen it. Staff did not come for my luggage as requested on day I left. Food is plentiful, though just average.
Relatively clean, plentiful alcohol, great beach (though unswimmable because of waves), large pool for laps, the servers were friendly.

United States of AmericaMost annoying was the availability of pool beds at the 2 main pools. They are "reserved" by other guests with towels in the early mornings. Of course you find other options for example at the beach or at the smaller pools, but definitely you won't find any of the nice pool beds at the main pools the entire day from 6:00 am or even earlier. I've seen in other hotels that staff will remove towels if the pool beds are blocked for hours without using them. Not so at Royal Hideaway. The only option to eat for dinner is at one of the 5 dinner restaurants. You need to make a reservation in advance, but some of those restaurants are pretty much booked out the entire time. We were lucky that the Concierge got us reservations for all of the restaurants after other guests canceled their reservations. Our tip: Don't wait, make all reservations for your entire stay as early as possible on the day of your arrival. We rented bicycles for free, which is nice. But wow, for such a luxury hotel the bicycles were in really bad shape.
The food and drinking offers at Royal Hideaway are simply a pleasure. They have an excellent breakfast buffet with a wide choice of options. You get decent food during lunch time or whenever you like throughout the day at the "Deck" with stunning ocean view. They offer little treats in the afternoons. And finally you have exceptional Dinner options: there are 5 different a la carte dinner restaurants, we enjoyed all of them very much but especially the local Mexican cuisine and the Asian restaurant. The staff at Royal Hideaway is very attentive. There are Concierges for every building in the property, our concierge was not so much trying to get us booked at the restaurants we wanted to, but we simply went to a concierge from another house and she did a fantastic job to get us booked. The property is really beautiful: they have a main pool area with ocean view und several "hidden" pools. You can watch birds and other animals like leguans there. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Royal Hideaway very much. Even considering the unpleasant situation with the pool beds, we would definitely come back.

United States of AmericaOne issue for our room was the loud chair moving noise every morning that was at the Concierge desk outside of our room. I would recommend moving or put something on the chair legs to reduce the noise. Don't like that you have to pay to get the "best" chairs by the pool. GET RID OF THE DISCRIMINATORY POLICY THAT MEN CANNOT WEAR OPEN TOED SHOES (like sandals) in the restaurants; makes no sense since women can wear all the open toed shoes they want. I had blisters and wanted to wear my Birkenstocks in to the restaurant and was denied. I was very irritated at the time. It's an arbitrary and stupid rule. Women can get away with way less coverage. Seems sexist to me in 2023. A few more organized group activities would be great.
The grounds are beautiful and serene, very well kept. Loved the natural wildlife on the property. Great location and beach. The bar was always stocked, drinks were flowing and the bartenders were very good. The food was hit and miss. Some entrees were really good, others so so.

The entertainment staff might have needed more help. When u check in, things are not explained clearly, like where to book non motorized sports, where to get bikes, etc. Maybe a tour when people check in would be nice.

The best all-inclusive I have ever stayed at. I can not find any fault. The food was very good, all restaurants exceeded my expectations. A very spacious and clean and comfortable room, great wi-fi all over the resort. Beach was wonderful. The service was perfect. I think "10" ratings are way too common on and over-used booking.com and therefore my rating is 9. But compared to my other all-inclusive experiences this is certainly a "10".

Australiaonly minor but 2 things would elevate it to the next level 1. sort out the lighting in the restaurants - it’s way too bright and lowering it would make the experience more enjoyable, ambient and keeping with the luxury 5 star experience. 2. pool music in the afternoons needs to be more curated and the sound quality needs to be better for those who want to be by the pool and enjoy it.
location, sea, views, rooms, grounds and staff. all inclusive is also a major plus.
