Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNot unexpected but the stairs are very steep so be prepared! In addition, there is some street noise (particularly on Friday/Saturday nights) but Gani does provide ear plugs.
Gani was a gracious host and helped us with luggage transport up the stairs. The building was so unique and cozy. The location was perfect for accessing all of Amsterdam’s hits.

United KingdomWas noisy despite the use of ear plugs on the Friday well into the early morning however, this is central Amsterdam, so what does one expect...
Great central location with a surprisingly large bedroom! Really nice host as well.

United KingdomSome street noise, but to be expected in such a central location. Also the stairs are extremely steep, but this is very clearly signposted by the host who couldn't help us enough with our luggage.
Very central location, friendly host and immaculately clean! Would recommend to anyone.

Gani was so well organized and efficient. He carried our luggage at the beginning and end of our stay to our room. We loved the vibe of this 500 year old house and the location could not have been better. We could stay in a sterile hotel room, but this experience created a memory! We appreciated the kitchen and coffee with small snacks. We are in our late 70s and have done much traveling.

United States of AmericaGreat room in unbeatable location. So glad I chose this hotel for my first stay in Amsterdam — it was fun to be at the center of things. Gani was so friendly and helpful. He greeted me when I arrived early to the hotel, and held our luggage for our later departure.

United States of AmericaIf you're not a picky or finicky traveller, there is nothing to not like. If you want fancy or new then find a pricey hotel.
Great location and excellent, thoughtful host. I've stayed at this property many times over the years and always am happy to return. Gani is always welcoming and accommodating. The room is clean and comfortable and so easy to get to. My favorite pub is one block away which makes for a quick and assured walk home at night.

United KingdomThe area is very busy and the steps inside the building are very steep, however, both were expected from the description and not a problem for us.
Good location, easy walk from train station. The host was very helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was comfortable and cosy. There was a fridge in the room and use of the host’s kitchen for coffee, tea, plates etc which was very convenient. Everything was spotlessly clean.

North MacedoniaThe location was in the center of the center, and during our stay (weekend) there were a lot of drunk people outside on the street and a lot of garbage, but it is something that is out of the hosts hands, because that is Amsterdam (centar)..otherwise we liked the stairs (very steep) 😆
The rooms, especially the roof room, were fantastic.

United States of AmericaSometimes loud in the streets, but this is no fault of Gani or the property. Just a busier area!
Quaint building close to Van de Wallen, Amsterdam Centraal, Dam Square, and more! We stayed in the loft room, which is up a few flights of stairs (very steep). It’s such a cozy, comfortable room. Gani was so kind and helped us with luggage, showed us what we needed, and kept his facilities so clean. He was a fantastic host! We had coffee, fruit, and chocolate snacks in the kitchen in the mornings, which were offered to us. Overall, very nice stay!

GermanyJust a small caveat: The stairs one has to take are very steep; more like a ladder than like normal stairs. But that is whining on a very high level, again, it only contributes to the athmosphere.
Extremely central in Amsterdam, great for exploring the city. Host is very friendly, whenever I had a question he immediately responded. Room was very large and very well maintained. Floor is a tad uneven, but that just contributes to the amazing athmosphere of the place.

AustraliaThe owner of the property is a dream person, very willing to help and worried about his clientele in every manner. He helped with the bags to drag them up the three large, flights of stairs and even arranged to assist in taking the bags to the station when we were leaving in the morning. The apartment was immaculately clean. Fruit and coffee were available in the downstairs kitchen. My only gripe, which cannot be fixed, is the climb to the room. A small complaint when comfort and position are taken into account.

KenyaNothing, we already knew about Amsterdam's steep staircases so we were ready for the climb and after the 2nd time climbing up and down we got used to it.
We were right in central Amsterdam and close to everything we wanted to do. The cleaners called.and came while we were out and it was a nice touch returning to a clean room.

United KingdomThe accommodation itself is great, but be aware of the 54 very steep steps to the loft room.
Gani was a wonderful host, always responsive when texted and helped us by taking our suitcase up to the loft room. The room itself was a great example of a traditional loft in an amsterdam town house- very quaint and spotlessly clean. You have access to the kitchen too, with complimentary tea, coffee, fruit and biscuits. The accommodation is well located for exploring the centre and red light district

AustraliaThe room gets very hot at night with the windows shut. Unless you sleep like a brick, there's generally too much noise to leave the windows open. The supplied fan is great, but there's nowhere for the hot air to go. It's mentioned in the details on booking, but it's definitely something to be aware of - the entrance stairs are incredibly steep, it's basically a ladder. Not suitable for very large/heavy suitcases or wide luggage
Nice short walk from Amsterdam Centraal - great location, especially if you're there to party! Pubs, clubs and many other facilities literally just outside the door. Even then, the windows shut extremely well, so all but the lowest bass sounds are completely shut out. Gani was very welcoming, helping us with our bags up the stairs, and even did our laundry on request

AustraliaAlthough the location was very convenient to the train station and night life activities the downside to this was the noise at night. However this was to be expected, is unavoidable if you want to stay in the centre, and we were able to block it out with our ear plugs.
Room was very clean, host was lovely and we were able to use the kitchen for preparing sandwiches and making coffee (we appreciated the coffee pods the host provided).

United States of AmericaThere are stairs but the charm of staying in an original Amsterdam house outweighs the stairs. If you want an elevator go somewhere else.
Lovely, such a wonderful place to stay in Central Amsterdam. The hospitality is outstanding. There is a nice kitchen area with a frig and microwave. Gani provides coffee, tea, snack bars and fruit! The rooms are very comfortable and there is laundry. He has guide books and maps for you to borrow and he helps give you site suggestions. I will recommend to my friends!
