To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The owner was friendly and helpful. Location is easy to reach from central station. It was a a good opportunity to experience the Amsterdam houses from inside.

SlovakiaIt wasn't written on Booking that the toilet is shared with other gusts, so for us it was uncomfortable. The room we reserved supposed to have a private bathroom, but in reality it wasn't just for us. The bathroom is out of the room on the corridor next to other two rooms and it wasn't possible to luck the door of it even from outside or inside. Although other gusts had their own bathroom, but they used this one (ours) so basically we had shared toilet and bathroom although the information on Booking.com said something else.
The room was clean and nice. The owner was helpful and kind.

IrelandNo private bathroom,our room with the rest of the rooms on the top floor needed to share a bathroom and shower, I had messaged the owner about this before arrival and was told we had a private bathroom which was not true, The room could do with a bit of paint, lots marks on the wall, the door to our room looks like it has been repaired but not repainted, just a very small mirror in the room.there where car parts in boxes left on the stairway, there is no sound insulation you can hear other quess walk around the building,
The bed was fine, clean sheets and towels, were able to check in early

PolandThere must be more photos of the room to give people a real impression of where they're going to live. The room was not clean: the host left his clothes and personal items chaotically on the window sill, near the bed and in/on the wardrobe. The shower is in the other room which belongs to the host and is pretty messy as well (he wasn't there when we booked a room). The price is too high for one room with such conditions and left us disappointed. I wouldn't recommend this room for a stay.
The location is good: there are bus and tram stops, nice park, supermarket and cafes nearby. Communication with the host was also good: we were informed about check-in time and the host was flexible for changes of check-in time.

United Kingdomwhen we arrived, despite having specified the arrival time, the room still had to be cleaned for us. not all linens were changed. the room was really uncomfortable because it was located on the top floor, the bathroom was supposed to be private instead it was shared. we had to ask for new towels but they gave us ones for the hands. terrible never again.

ItalyInformation on the Booking site is incorrect because: 1) The bathroom is not private as advertised but shared with another room. 2) Check in was supposed to be possible since midday. We arrived well after 1pm and the room had not been cleaned yet. We wanted to relax a bit and take a shower but this was not possible, since the cleaning person had to work. We (begrudgingly) left our luggage in the room and went to the city center. Communication with the host was close to impossible, since they spoke a very broken English, and we only ever spoke via Whatsapp. We were not able to see him in person since the room was opened by the cleaning guy.
Pretty good position, close to the tram stop (5 minutes on foot). The room was big enough and the bed was comfortable, even if the decor was very essential (maybe a coat rack could have been useful in the rainy Amsterdam). The price (€130) was fair considering it was Easter week, and even in spite of the bathroom being shared. Furniture is generally acceptable, and the bathroom and toilet are not bad.

TaiwanUnfortunately there was no hand washer in the bathroom and neither in the toilets. No hair dryer as well (it was mentioned in the description). The shower cas ok but no water pressure. Even if we were almost all the day outside, we heard easily the others tenants (talking, snoring..) Sad also to have dead insects on the ceiling.
The localisation was pretty nice, and the owner available at any moment. The room was quite nice.
