Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsCommunication was extremely slow and unclear at times. The description says that there is a continental breakfast but we were made aware that this wasn’t available when booking the whole property. This doesnt make sense because the price person is still the same. We were also asked a rent for using the towels which we didnt have to pay because of the breakfast unclarity but I still found it odd to be asked to begin with especially for the price of 100 eur per person per night. Also, even though we booked on this website, we were asked to give a 300 eur deposit which is quite high for a 800 eur booking. I had to keep reminding our contact about this and was able to get it back after 5 days.
This was a beautiful place to stay with a group of 8, full facilities with a kitchen and shared bathrooms. Comfortable beds. It is right across a church so you will hear the bells every hour. The place itself was physically very nice but the service and extra costs we incurred not worth it to rent this place next time.

United KingdomDon’t ignore the bad reviews. They are extremely accurate! The owner is very lazy and provides nothing. I never saw her and neither did any of the other guests who were staying there before I arrived. Where to start…I booked for one night on a work trip. Looked beautiful in the photos and seemed to get good reviews. Upon arriving, it’s very picturesque, even if the garden has become overgrown. However, the host wasn’t present when I arrived. Not to worry, instructions were sent to me by message on how to let myself in and my key would be in the room door. When I got inside it seemed quite nice, I couldn’t find the fridge the host mentioned to grab a drink and though going into the kitchen would be intruding so thought that was strange. Then, the first alarm bell upon climbing the extremely steep stairs. They are not carpeted and extremely noisy! A theme that continues throughout the house. When I found my room, the key was attached to an enormous wooden key ring which every time I closed the door, clattered against it making more noise that could be heard throughout the house. Yet again, the theme. Noise, noise, noise. All the floors are bare wood and you can hear everything everybody in the other rooms is doing. I wasn’t really aware when booking that it was shared bathrooms. Maybe I could manage I thought but it wasn’t the main issue. The main issue is the noise generated by the other guests when they go to the toilet. Everything can be heard, again because nothing is carpeted. Everything is bare wood. Very frustrating if you need sleep as you are woken all the time by other guests - which of course isn’t their fault. The room inside was ok, a little bare but not bad. The blinds and curtains are very basic and minimal and keep little light out. There were cobwebs in the windows and the wardrobes so cleanliness isn’t great either. The bathrooms were reasonably clean but nobody was there to attend even if they weren’t. There are ZERO amenities.
The property could be amazing. If someone actually cared for it.

NetherlandsWe were a total of 13 friends and had the opportunity to book the entire property for Saturday night. The property is beautiful and was a comfortable stay for the 13 of us. There is ample room for sleeping, relaxing in the big living room or the multiple areas of the garden. Even if it's raining, you can sit outside while being covered. The host was incredibly nice and helpful, which made our stay even better!

GermanyWhile booking I have asked for business invoice. On site the owner agreed to provide after my stay via email. I have been working with customer service now for > 1 month, to get a simple invoice for my stay and still not a single reply/explanation from the owner! I am utterly disappointed not only with this property but also with Booking.com. Bottom line, it is illegal, not to provide an invoice if the customer demands one! Meaning they could be avoiding paying tax! And Booking just turned a closed eye to this, without proper action to sort this legitimacy question with this property out.

Netherlands-
The room was lovely and romantic, with a beautiful view of the blossoming magnolia tree and the church, we felt very welcome and comfortable. The house is magnificently restored with cozy details. Our hostess definitely has an eye for detail. We were served a copious, creative and wholesome Easter breakfast (that served us for lunch as well!) in the sunny and beautifully decorated common room. We definitely recommend this place to stay when visiting the Dutch great river lands and the blossoming spring. A good restaurant was recommended to us and just a few steps away. Parking was good.
