Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The location was maybe just a little TOO central. On the Saturday night there was SHOUTING down in the street until 3 or 4 in the morning. The other nights were fine. The hinges on the bathroom door could have used a drop of oil.
The breakfast was SENSATIONAL - I have NEVER had such a great breakfast in a hotel. FRESHLY squeezed Orange Juice, excellent coffee, freshly made eggs and bacon, I can absolutely recommend it. The room was COMFORTABLY large and very well equipped.

The only problem was the shower, the water temperature was hard to control. It would go from freezing cold to boiling hot without you touching the handle. Made it a little difficult to enjoy a shower.
The room was VERY spacious and very clean. The housekeeping did a great job of cleaning the room each day! It is also right across from the 12/2 tram spot, so it’s easy to get back and forth from the train station. Very centrally located, some great restaurants just around the corner!

Dated. For the same price possible to find better hotels jn the area.
Location was excellent even though there is construction going on in front of the hotel. The breakfast was just ok, nothing special. The hotel is dated. Staff (most of them) were friendly and helpful.

Extensive road works immediately outside made access difficult and building sand trodden into hotel despite their best efforts. Quite noisy at night from street facing rooms.
Spacious rooms. Very convenient for tram line (stops outside) plenty of restaurants nearby.

There was a lot of work going on outside the hotel but by no means the hotels fault. It was noisy but needs doing I guess and we were just unfortunate to be there at this time.

Slightly loud at night - must have been a club or something nearby as could hear people talking and shouting on the street outside until the early hours, but frustrating but depends what you are in Amsterdam for
Fantastic location in the heart of everything, very good vibe. Friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast - all major sites in easy walking distance.

There was a lot of noise at night. We expected this given the location and old building. We had ear plugs which solved the problem
Very big family room. Amazing view. Amazing location. Complementary drink in the room was a very nice touch. Fresh towels daily and beds were made daily. Such a beautiful bathroom 😍

Some building work along the canal outside, but it was very quiet
Location perfect for exploring Amsterdam on foot. Room was cosy and quiet. Breakfast was great. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Great for exploring the streets along the canals

We know that it isn't a permanent situation and the hotel can't do much about it but currently (March 2024) there is a huge construction site in front of the building which is noticeably in terms of noise in the morning and during the day.
The staff is super friendly, the room was clean, everything was up to our expectations. Breakfast has a wide range to offer ☺️, but it could still be problematic if someone is following a strict vegan dietary.
