Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA little distance from ‘the action’ but trip didn’t suffer from it. Railway line quite close but you got used to it very quickly.
Really cute and well-appointed, everything you needed for a short stay as a solo or a couple. Hosts were a delight and super helpful and knowledgeable.

Excellent communication from owners. Good location - easy Tram access. Lovely houseboat, facilities, and thoughtful food / drink in fridge available for use to prevent us wasting time food shopping. Friendly owners are always willing to advise but never overbearing. Cannot recommend highly enough

United KingdomThe shower temperature was a bit temperamental - it had a habit of getting cold and then hot again with no warning and as it wasn't a very big cubicle it was a bit difficult to jump out of the way!
The room had everything we needed, as per the description, and it was very clean. Lovely comfortable bed. The owner was very helpful and we really appreciated the coffee, drinks and snacks provided. Very nice little 'terrace' outside the room right on the canal - it was too cold & wet to use it when we were there but it would be great for a morning coffee or evening drink in good weather.

AustraliaYou did get the occasional strong river smell but that’s to be expected when staying on a waterway.
We decided on a different style of accommodation for our stay in Amsterdam and we weren’t disappointed. Paul was an amazing host, including offering to pick us up from the train station on our arrival. He offered lots of information and ideas on sightseeing and nearby restaurants. The houseboat is quite small but perfectly functional. The bed was large and very comfortable. We appreciated the complimentary basket of goodies. The houseboat is located a little way out of the centre of Amsterdam but the tram is located near by and came every 10 mins or it was an easy 30 min walk. It was actually quite nice to be out of the centre which was extremely busy in July. My husband was very happy with the location, only 100m from the historic windmill brewery. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the ducks, swans and other boats go by.

United States of AmericaI only wish we could have stayed longer. We really don't have a single complaint or suggestion on how to improve. I hope they keep doing what they are doing.
First of all, the houseboat itself was amazing. It is essentially a completely modern and beautiful floating apartment. The space is absolutely huge compared to our other accommodations on our trip and so it was really nice to be able to spread out a bit. The windows are floor to ceiling and it was really neat to have swans literally swimming up to the windows as we were hanging out. The location is also great as Brouwerij 't IJ is a fantastic brewery two minutes walk away at the end of the street. We were able to walk to the train station as well as many of the city's most popular attractions and felt completely safe the entire time. Secondly, the hosts were absolutely awesome. We (accidentally) arrived on King's Day and were a bit worried about checking in, but Paul (host) prioritized meeting us at the boat and warmly welcomed us. He gave us a tour of the apartment and even provided us with some local snacks as a welcome gift. He then proceeded to sit down with us with a map and show us points of interest as well as answer any questions we had regarding the city or activities we had planned. He even provided us with the train information we would need to get the airport the day before we left. Overall, this was one of the best places we have ever stayed because of both the apartment and the hosts and I would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Amsterdam. We hope to return in the near future. Thanks Paul & Rob!

United Kingdomthis houseboat is really lovely and in a cool part of the city (only 30 mins or so to get to central). if you go when it's warm you can swim in the canal which we really enjoyed (you will also be visited regularly by ducks/geese etc - please see pic attached!) the space feels private, homely and comfortable but still near enough to some places to eat / hang out etc. (our favourite being Brouwerij 't IJ - a brewery in a windmill) Paul and Rob were such friendly and attentive hosts. we really appreciated the little details i.e. helping us with travel + providing some snacks on the side and a couple of drinks in the fridge. we will definitely be returning next time we're in Amsterdam!

IrelandSome continental breakfast options may be nice but little basket and bottle of wine more than did the job. Two twin beds pushed together instead of a double, made sleeping a bit difficult sometimes but nothing that couldn’t be fixed.
Location was perfect for the relaxed holiday we were after. Paul and Rob are lovely men and hosts who answered all queries and went above and beyond for us.

United KingdomIt is slightly out of the way from the city centre but very close to tram stops which mean you can get to and from the centre easily enough. If anything it meant we explored the East of Amsterdam more which felt less touristy.
Paul was absolutely amazing, he gave us tips for where to visit in Amsterdam as it was our first time in the city. The room has everything you could need, including complementary snacks and drinks! We particularly liked the outside sitting area.

Loved the view of trains passing and wildlife on the canal. Within walking distance of city. Host gave helpful suggestions of local attractions e.g. Market, winkle apple pie, brewery. Host provided lots of drinks and snacks which were a bonus. Would recommend.
