Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMaybe make it clearer that private rooms are a bit open.
Slightly odd little hostel with murals etc but quite cosy for it. For those booking private rooms, they are actually open at the top which surprised me but wasnt much of an issue. The living room and fireplace are nice for a chill. Its good value for money. Great location for the ferry.

GermanyThe beds in our room were not comfortable at all. There was a very thin mattress , maybe a camping mattress or pillow topper, over a hard, inflexible frame. That being said, I was so tired that I still slept!
Sheira’s paintings transport you to another world - Atlantis! She is kind, welcoming, knowledgeable and FUN! A more wonderful hostess would be hard to find.

New ZealandI wasn't sure where to go when there is a fire. It is a bit of a rabbit warren and the signs are not clear.
It is not the most glamorous accommodation but it is definitely the most quirky and interesting one. I usually don't spend much time in the common lounge and kitchen but in Atlantis the atmosphere was very relaxed and I enjoyed a great evening amidst the other guests. The staff is lovely; I was looked after very well with an extra blanket and a small heater.

PolandThere were a lot of weird (sometimes dusty) thingies all around in main area and in the rooms. For some guests it may cause the feeling of excess or redundancy (and I doubt about their cleanliness)
Very affordable place in a great location, close to ferry harbor. Many facilities were inside, including free breakfast. Atlantis owner was always somewhere around, and we could get some travel tips. She created a family-like atmosphere. Generally, I liked the hostel atmosphere, although for some guests it may seem weird. The room was comfortable, and the beds were too.

Czech RepublicRoom didn't have a window. No lockers. Sometimes you wait for showers as there are only three. Beds seem old and not very comfy.
Really cosy and spacious interiors, cats walking around, a piano, friendly staff, and they let me check in at 11 am! Short distance to everything.

Fantastic backpacker hostel if you are backpacking in New Zealand. Very cheap and you can meet a lot of people. Also a nice cosy place and the staff are very helpful. The selfmade free dessert on 7pm is a very sweet touch too.

United KingdomThe WiFi was very patchy - no signal at all in my room, and intermittent in the common areas.
The hostel doesn't have the best curb appeal, but fortunately my first impressions proved to be incorrect! I received an amazingly warm welcome from the lady who I think was the owner. The room was compact, but had everything you needed, and the beds were comfortable. I requested a lower bunk, and this was kindly noted and accommodated. The kitchen was big and well-equipped. The free tea/coffee, breakfast, and little dessert in the evenings were all great, and set it apart from other hostels. The common area was big, with plenty of comfortable seating and absolutely loads of books! The hostel cats were super cute, too! Location was great, right in the centre of Picton, just minutes from the train station and ferry.

New ZealandBed was a bit creaky and the room division was a bit weird but fine. I stayed in a 2 or 4 person room.
Very nice staff and especially after the late night ferry! The hostel is a bit chaotic in terms of decorations but that kind of makes it nice. Good to meet other travellers and they have parrots and cats you can pet. Very good location.
