Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe rooms are quite small, the furniture was an ugly, cheap-looking modern. There was no chest of drawers to unpack. Disappointing.
The hotel's location is wonderful and the hotel itself is quite lovely. The staff was cordial and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room clean.

United KingdomAs soon as we walked in there we were getting bitten. Need to find a way to keep biting mites out as we weren’t getting bitten in the streets when out and did get affected a lot both days we were there. They also didn’t come in and make up our room at all. The breakfast menu was not appealing so we didn’t eat there
Location, WiFi, room size and general style of the hotel all really lovely

United States of AmericaThere is an open-air courtyard, and there was a very noisy bird that was squawking throughout the entire night for a few of the nights we were there. It made sleeping more difficult. I don’t know if there is any way for the hotel to chase the birds away, but it didn’t appear that there was an effort to do so. There is a small but lovely roof-top deck with a pool, but there is a very limited number of lounge chairs available. Some guests tend to grab them and camp out for hours, making it difficult for other guests to use them. Adding some additional lounge chairs and signage asking guests to limit the length of their use of the chairs would be helpful.
Beautiful and well-maintained property. Incredible location.

United States of AmericaThe room could’ve been a little cleaner. Rug was shedding and needed more vacuuming. Otherwise the room was clean.
Beautiful grounds, and facilities. Location was perfect. Many would enjoy the soaking pool and hot tub, but we did not have time to use it.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom was not as clean as I would prefer. The hotel could use a facelift, but I think that looks to be true of most OSJ hotels. Also, the hot water was only warm, but that may be an OSJ thing too as most, if not all restaurant restrooms we were in had no hot water at all.
Located within walking distance of all major Old San Juan attractions, restaurants, and shopping. The bed was good and there was a working safe which I appreciate. The hotel was charming and quaint. Breakfast was included and very good. We were never bothered by outside noise and the A/C worked well. The elevator was broken on our arrival, but our bags were carried to our room for us on check in and it was fixed the next day. We enjoyed hanging out and relaxing in the courtyard. It was fun to imagine the nuns living there years ago. We didn't use it, but there was a coffee maker in the room. Bottled water is available all day which is a very nice perk. The included wine and cheese hour was very nice and unlimited. We didn't use the small pool or hot tub, but saw others who looked to be enjoying them. The staff was very friendly.

United States of AmericaI would love a larger pool - but that's only because I am a lap swimmer. I love the hotel!
For some reason, my husband would arrive first before others and always be served last, receiving his food long after others were almost finished with their breakfast. He gave up on receiving a timely breakfast. He was always served last when he was actually "first in line".

SwitzerlandAll the ground floor could be very much improved. The bar, the restaurant, the lobby, all those areas are not welcoming and friendly. It’s all very common without any special charm. We have been many times in this hotel over the past 23 years (first time was in year 2000) and we see the quality going down. That is sad.
The room was nice, centered location, building is nice.

United KingdomWe chose one of the courtyard rooms so that we could enjoy a bit of outside space, but this was completely sheltered so we didn't use it. It would have been better if it was only partly covered.
The location of this hotel is fantastic. Right in the heart of Old San Juan, so you are close to everything but it's not too noisy. The views from the rooftop are inspiring. The hotel feels very authentic with beautiful artwork and furniture. The staff are also wonderful and helpful. Every evening between 5 - 6 pm they serve free wine and cheese, which is a nice touch.

United States of AmericaSo many flies in the room was our biggest disaapointment. Windows were closed at all times we had no idea where they came from. Shower was leaking and the bed sheet had a big stain when we first entered the room. We had to ask them to change it. Gym and pool is so small. On their website it says they have a sister property for beach and pool access, but turns out you can only use their beach and not the pool.

United States of AmericaOne reason we booked the hotel was "breakfast included" - but the included breakfast consisted only of "Full American" - eggs with toast and potatoes. Anything else was an extra charge, and it would have been helpful to have better information in advance. The wait staff seemed inexperienced and made many mistakes with our orders.
The location is perfect for exploring Old San Juan, and the front desk staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable, and had a great view of the harbor. The afternoon wine and cheese event is lovely, and spending time by the pool in the late afternoon was very relaxing.

United States of AmericaFor the price of the hotel there could have been more amenities. For example, I took advantage of the sister property beach club but was disappointed there was no shuttle service there. The splash pool and jacuzzi were extremely small. Cleaning services came every day very early, which is not preferred on vacation. Despite having cleaning service every day there were dust balls in the room as if it had not been thoroughly cleaned. There could be more lighting and mirrors in the room. The wifi was also spotty. It was unnecessary for my purposes, but could be inconvenient for others.
The staff were super friendly and informative. The hotel is in the best location and the historic features of the building were beautiful and what I was expecting.

United States of AmericaFor the nightly rate of the hotel, I feel they should partner with a much more luxurious hotel than the Courtyard for beach and pool access; however, it was a nice option to have.
Loved the old world charm and history of the hotel. The hotel restaurants were delicious and the location is prime. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the free coffee, water bottles, and wine and cheese happy hour.
