“-Authentic way to see the Komodo Dragons in a more responsible way and avoid the overcrowding tourism at Loh Liang. You also get a chance to experience the way the people in Komodo village live, where 70% of the people are employed by tourism at the park. The people of the village are extremely friendly and you can walk freely around the village.
-The accommodation was very basic but well set up, cool enough at night with a fan and even tea/coffee facilities in each room. Also a beautiful sunrise/sunset view from each room. Food was really nice especially the packed lunches. Indonesian style toilet but western shower, shared with the family.
-You can see the dragons behind the village where the locals have set up a walking area with many dragons around (you must go with Jacky or a ranger). We were lucky enough to see two dragons kill a goat and fight for it!
-We caught the local boat there, and returned by private boat. The local boat cost 100k pp, and took around 5 hours. It leaves Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 10am and returns Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday.
-We did a two day private local boat tour while we were there, covering Padar, Manta Point, Taka beach, pink beach, menjerite, Kelor and a visit to the main national park. The cost is about equivalent to a 3D2N liveaboard for two people and included drop off in Labuan Bajo on the second day. Doing it this way you can avoid ALL of the crowds at every spot and see the dragons in a nice way. We had each place essentially to ourselves which made the experience really wonderful and relaxed.”
“Maria is an amazing woman, she hosted us excellently in her house. Very clean room and bathroom and breakfast included.
The place is very quiet, reachable by scooter only 15 minutes from Labuan Bajo.
Maria also arranged for us the wonderful boat trip to go to Komodo Island.
An unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.”
“We liked our room which did not have a sea view but was very nice and quite modern. Quite far from the center, there is a small shortcut to go down more quickly (unlit path and not so simple)”
“- Spacious room with a nice bathroom.
- Excellent location in the village center.
- Breakfast was great!
- There is a generator to counter the unreliable electricity network in the region.”
“A simple and comfortable room that was great for our one night stay. Breakfast was good too and staff are friendly. Drinking water available. Bed was very comfortable”
“Our host was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, and prepared with care. Bed and bathroom were very comfortable - air conditioning was a bonus. We also has a private verandah off our room which was lovely for relaxing on during the day. The bnb is close enough to town, cafes, etc, but in a quiet area. Short walk to the beach. Easy motor bike ride to everything.”
