Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Wasn’t keen on the breakfast but being used to English style it wasn’t to my liking. That is not a criticism of it as I’m sure others will think differently.

Very loud at night but otherwise I just used ear plugs and white noise and it was fine!
Good food, great location, especially with my kids. Mosques and the bazaar were within 10-20 min walks. Staff were friendly as well!

The location of the hotel is amazing. It is right in the center of the old city, we were mainly walking to visit landmarks. Everything was in 15 minutes by a walk. The hotel room was small but everything was super clean. Room service was cleaning and changing the sheets every day. The rooms are the same in the hotel as we see in the pictures. Breakfast was very nice.

Can be noisy if you are on the lower floors or if your next door neighbors are having a loud discussion. There were a few interactions lost in translation. Breakfast is good, but not much gets replenished, be early or be disappointed.
Great location. Everything within reach. Restaurants, specialty shops and all sorts of amenities at our door step. Within walking distance to Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topcapi palace and every place of interest. This hotel is right on the center of everything one would want to visit. The staff are obliging and the cleaning staff were very consistent.

Not much storage in the room The breakfast wasn't really to our taste, but plenty of choice.
Great location in easy reach of attractions in the old city and not far from the T1 tram. Great city views from the window. Friendly staff who organised our airport transfers. Clean and plenty of hot water and towels.

Narrow staircase but had a lift so no problem.
Excellent location near the main attractions with good access to public transportation. The staff were very polite, helpful and friendly. There were many excellent restaurants around serving amazing traditional food.

Bathroom was mouldy, and the bedding had some stains on it. Also there was an issue with the cleaning staff - they had thrown out the bag which contained earphones and bills that were important.
The location was amazing, people at the reception were very nice.

The bedroom was very small, with a tiny storage space, the bathroom was grand, shower perfectly adequate. Bed was very comfortable in fairness. Hotel a bit 1980's ish but couldn't fault the staff, from duty managers to cleaning staff, very helpful and friendly.
Top class front desk staff, couldn't be more helpful or friendly.

I asked a room with 2 beds and got one with a double and a sofa bed, the sofa was really uncomfortable
the location is perfect, I was able to reach famous places in the city in minutes walking, the staff is always helpful and friendly and the breakfast is very good

The first night there was no hot water. We had to shower with cold water (got no other option). Staff came 2 hours later, when we were sleeping, to let us know the problem was solved 😅.
Friendly staff, location couldn't be better. Breakfast is very good, with a lot of options. Super clean.
