Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaDidn't like that we were not given a room number or code to get in and a phone number in the one email was wrong, so we couldn't get in the first night and if it hadn't been for a staff member we found in the morning, we might not have gotten in for the second night either. The staff member was very helpful and we appreciated her help.
Love the location. Stayed here in a different room years ago and knew we loved the location which was the main reason for staying here again. Hot tub was nice. The grounds are well maintained. Would stay here again, but would use a different method of booking.

BelgiumLots of street noise because the windows are old and do not provide almost any isolation. Upon arrival, we had to agree with about 10 property rules and sign each individually, which felt a bit condescending. Of course, we would agree with property rules, such as non-smoking policy and quiet hours, but this was a bit strange.
We had a beach/ocean view from our unit which was amazing. The apartment was clean and well-equipped. It was easy to go to the town. The garden and plants around the property are beautiful.

AustraliaThe receptionist was not very welcoming and the carparking situation was best in best dressed which is unsuitable. We were blessed that this did not become an issue for us personally though and were lucky to jag a carpark when needed.
The room location within the Hotel Complex and the Hotel Complex location within the Kona township. The veranda overlooked the beach, and it was an easy walk into Kona for restaurants, pubs and shopping.

New ZealandAlthough some toiletries were provided and appreciated, body wash and shampoo / conditioner probably would have been more useful instead (and a bathmat)! Very hard to obtain car parking.
Location was very central to shops etc and we had a room with a waterfront view. Pretty well equipped kitchen and additional beach items. Nice to have the use of a pool and spa too.

Australia- desk staff a little abrupt & unhelpful when we asked for a kettle. Was told as "it is a condo & you need to contact the owner on the number provided"! - to then be unable to contact the owner, & there was no message facility, with a request to extend our stay for a few more hours until our flight. - kitchen & bathroom in our apartment are tiny & needs updating, but manageable for a few days.
- quaint heritage buildings - location - pool - the outlook from our apartment (248) onto the lawn & across the road to the beach

United States of Americafriendliness, less rigidity regarding the 4 pm sharp check in time, cleaner room, less toxic chemical use.
A poor Aloha greeting. The man at the reception desk was polite. The property was RIGID regarding check in time even though we have email that stated they would "try to accommodate us for an earlier check in"...they wouldn't. We were their 43 minutes before 4 pm and tired. We were told the "cleaner" was in the room. We went to the room no one was in it. When we were able at 4 pm and not a second sooner to get in the room the smell of cleaning product was so strong we had to air out the room before we could be in there. Whoops they don't clean under the bed and the spilled potato chips from previous tenants was a bit icky. Under the sink in the kitchenette it was dirty and gross. The bed was comfortable and it is very close to restaurants and shops but we would look for something friendlier and cleaner next time we are on the big island.

United States of AmericaBe warned - if you arrive at the property prior to your scheduled check in time, there will not be anyone there who knows anything about your reservation, and will not even be able to confirm that you have one! This is a condominium complex, all of the units are rented out by independent entities. They will not answer questions or requests sent to Booking prior to your arrival, and no usable contact information will be printed on your confirmation email - and it is pay in advance! If you try to obtain additional information (such as 'do you have a record of my reservation'), the 'front desk' staff will become openly hostile and mocking. It took me an hour on the line with Booking's customer service in Spain (who were as helpful as they could be), then with multiple property managers, before my reservation was even found, and finally multiple phone calls to the property ultimately ordering the clerk to give me the keys - only for her then to become begrudgingly cooperative and check me in. I do think that Booking should require reservations of this type to be clearly stated as such, and require the property managers to provide transparent contact information to avoid such issues.
The location is right at the water in the heart of Kailua-Kona - and our balcony had a view of the ocean. The unit was clean and comfortable and well-decorated. There is parking on-site, and a pool and barbecues available for use.

United States of AmericaHI! I stayed in 2 different condos, as that was what was available. I was in 206 first: It was fine, but not special. Clearly gets a lot of visitors! Some parts are worn. I borrowed a mop and worked on the floor and balcony, but my feet were still discolored with dirt after I walked around the condo. Those floors need a serious scrub! The sheets, when I stripped the bed to leave, were badly stained and worn. I saw a lot of bugs. I know it's the tropics, and they live there, but a lid for the garbage can would make a big difference. Then I moved to 241: Much better! Well decorated, super clean, the decor looks new, and full of the things one needs: good cookware, a lidded garbage can, bug repellent sprays, a vacuum. Overall, the Kona Islander is great -- the rooms are a bit luck of the draw, is all. I loved the pool, walkways, gorgeous garden and landscaping, cats, having on-site laundry, location, and most of all, the very kind, helpful, caring front-desk staff!
The location is stellar. You are near beaches, coffee, shopping, bike rental, bars, and cafes. It is a great base for fun bike rides. You can stroll 6 minutes to a beach, rent a snorkel set, and just walk into the water to see scores of colorful fish along a reef. The staff also keep the grounds of the Kona Islander immaculate. The walkways, gardens, pool, grill areas, seating -- all are kept in tip-top shape.
