Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I didn't like that my husband felt like they were singling hin out in racism way.
The location is AMAZING, the staff great. The breakfast was pleasant but could have switched it up.

Old fashioned hotel, rooms need urgent renovation.
We booked Deluxe Double Room with two Double Beds for 3 adults Excellent locatio, (Ocean ride, South beach), a free sun chairs and bicycles, nice and helpfull staff. Excellent restaurant inside the hotel: Osteria del Mar/Miami Beach . Highly recommanded.

the hotel was not clean overall. there is NO outside space to sit and enjoy, room was not great, it was pretty clean but the bed was uncomfortable and the shower door was off the track and didn't work. the halls were so dirty and there was a terrible screeching noise outside of our room in the hall way the whole time we stayed. I did also try to cancel the reservation about an hour after I made it because of the location and realizing it didn't have a pool and the property would not allow me to cancel even one hour after so that was also very lame
The staff was really nice. The free breakfast was ok but when I went to get an americano because there was no coffee at the free breakfast that cost $12.50 so it kind of negated the breakfast.

The coffee machine in the room didn’t work and the hotel is looking tired in certain areas. Time for a makeover is needed

Washroom door is glass. Dont share a room with kids.

Extremely basic hotel, which for the price you could expect a bit more being honest. The bathroom shower hardly has any pressure. For one night is not a problem at all, but I wouldn't push it further than. 2 nights.
Staff are above expectations, extremely nice, welcoming and made everything to make us happy. Even going out of their way to give us early check in for free which was perfect after a red eye flight from san francisco.

Basically at this hotel you only pay for location. Room is a small box. Small bathroom. Basically just space for a bed. Cold tiled floors. Free breakfast with scrambled eggs and cold uncooked potatoes.

While the room itself is spacious, I had some reservations about its cleanliness, as well as the cleanliness of the bathroom. However, aside from that minor issue, we were overall very satisfied with our stay.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, situated on the vibrant Ocean Drive with an amazing atmosphere. The beach is just a few meters away, and the hotel provides free towels and beach chairs, which is a big plus. The breakfast offered at the hotel is tasty, with a nice selection typical of American breakfasts. The hotel service is top-notch, with a very helpful and friendly staff.

Water gets in floor from shower. Floor in shower was tile and slick. We didn’t receive any written information during check in. We needed a ticket to eat breakfast that was supposed to be given at time of check in. I had to stand in line to get it the next morning.
Everything was clean and comfortable. Everyone was very helpful and friendly.

The complimentary breakfast is of poor standard and I think takes a bit away from the positiveness of the hotel.

The room was kinda small for a family of 4, but it was manageable. The bathroom is a matchbox lol, but since it was just us, it didn’t feel too bad.
Excellent service. Top-notch location, right on Ocean Drive, in the middle of all the activity, and a stone’s throw from the beach. Great places to eat all around, lovely vibe. South beach parking garage $20/day is less than a block away. It’s great if you happen to have a car. No in/out privileges: be warned (so you’ll pay $20 for each day or each part of a day that you enter and exit the garage). The staff at the Beacon South Beach are the absolute best! Nothing beats their excellent hospitality.

We were not informed that either hotel we booked for our Miami stay was under renovation.
We booked a different hotel in July for our November trip. I was looking at the hotel amenities close to our trip date and saw they were undergoing major renovations. I called booking.com and they let me change without a fee to a different hotel - even gave me a small credit for the inconvenience. We booked the Beacon for its wonderful location and included breakfast. When we arrived, the facade is undergoing restoration, the front desk area in the lobby is ripped out and covered in plastic, most chairs on the patio area removed. Our room was nice and the bed very comfortable. The nespresso machine in room great. Breakfast was three blocks away and consisted of chafing dishes with limited options. We ended up going elsewhere for breakfast other mornings. I contacted booking.com to let them know I was disappointed with the appearance of the hotel and the misleading “included” breakfast and their response was poor. They recognized that the situation was frustrating.
