Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNot all rooms are the same. We had to ask to switch our first room as it had some issues: a broken closet door, a non-operational safe, no desk or chair, and no Wi-Fi within the room. The second room was slightly bigger but too has shown signs of wear and tear like cracked and peeling selling, worn-out carpet. The valet parking charge is too expensive. There is no security scan of the room key in the elevator or stairs. Anyone can get to room floors.
Good location in walking distance from the restaurants around Dupont Circle, the Zoo, and Metro stations. The hotel has valet parking, and free coffee in the morning. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

United States of AmericaWe had breakfast at the Chartwell. There was only one wait staff and the service wasn’t great and food very basic for the price. They ran out of ketchup. I also wish there was a shower mat, the shower floor was slippery.
Proximity to metro. The staff were very friendly. The rooms are pretty and very well appointed. I loved the coffee and the water in the lobby. I wish the coffee could remain out a bit longer, like until 11:00 am or noon.

United States of AmericaThe room would have been much more comfortable w/ a few comfy chairs and a "coffee" table. We used the couch for our suitcases because there weren't any suitcase racks in the room. Having to sit on the bed while watching TV or reading wasn't the most comfortable.
Room was very clean; bed was very comfortable; except for the emergency vehicles on the street, the room was quiet.

United States of AmericaParking is expensive ($60/night) and is strictly valet. You don't know where they park your car and they have the keys so you need to call anytime you want to take the car out or retrieve something from the car. However the valets were always available and were quick to take/retrieve the car. There is no available street parking without a sticker and I did not see any convenient public pay lots.
Great location between Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle. Easy to walk anywhere in either of those neighborhoods. Bus comes right down Connecticut Ave past hotel to take you downtown. Metro at Dupont maybe 0.5miles away at most. 9th floor very quiet. Décor was much nicer than depicted on websites. Comfortable beds and pillows. Good bathroom setup. Free bottled water. Staff pleasant and helpful. Free coffee (which was quite good) and flavored water in lobby. We went to several excellent restaurants, usually on foot or by ride service.

JapanWaited for service at Chartwell Grill. Came to the restaurant on Friday and there was ONE staff attending to the bar and kitchen. Waited over 20mins for drinks. On Saturday and Sunday the restaurant was closed. They should have mentioned that upon check-in so I don't waste time going down there and the place is closed. Honestly the food wasn't worth the cost. Beside this, I had a good stay.
The location as it's within minutes to restaurants, subway, park, and shops. Overall, the hotel stay was great.

Third time staying here and excellent as always. The reception staff and those in the restaurant were efficient and went out of their way to help. The local area has many excellent restaurants and tourist attractions are easily reached on the Metro.

We were welcomed by a very professional, informative gentleman at the front desk who made us feel welcome after a somewhat challenging trip to get to DC. After we unpacked, we were told by the same young man that it was not too late to have something to eat at the bar/restaurant. I took advantage of the offer and the bartender was gracious enough to stay after closing for me, despite it being his birthday. That told me a little bit more about the character of the employees.

SwitzerlandWhen interacting with the front office staff it seemed that that they were not properly trained. I had reserved separately room separately for consecutive nights. They did not realise this but fortuantely I could stay in the same room. However, I had to check-out und check-in on the second day. This procedure was unnecessary and could be improved by investing in further training.
Nice and classic hotel. The room was nice and spacious. However, there was no desk in the room. The bed was confy. Luckily the blinds did close all the way and the room was sound-proof. A bus stop is located in front of the hotel.
