Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe room itself was a little dirty.
The breakfast was an excellent addition as well as the location. The pool and dining area were both amazing after a busy day walking around the city. Close to the market by cab and a lovely gift shop right at the hotel.

New ZealandSafe wasn't working on arrival, no pool towels in our room (annoying to have to get them from reception each time), no face flannels in bathroom, cleaners left their cleaning products behind in our room, air conditioning unit very noisy - hard to sleep, breakfast was very average (no alternative to white bread, not much fruit, no pastries/muffins etc).
Pool, drinks (the dacquiris were particularly good!) Staff at the pool bar were very friendly! Dined out of the resort both nights - Giodano's and Roco - both excellent and worth the short cab ride.

New ZealandThe kids playground needs some work. If you're not thinking of expanding it, it's small enough to have some sort of shade over it so kids can play on it without it burning them because of it sitting in the heat. I didn't like the swimming pool location how it was right in the middle of the bar and restaurant with people watching or around as you swim. The pool temp was also warm which I hated, esp when you're going for a swim to cool off.
My favourite part was breakfast, we stayed at 4 different hotels on our trip and Tanoa was my favourite for breakfast. I like how they don't make the same food every single day and it changes. It can get pretty boring when the menu is repetitive. Also enjoyed their menu at the bar, had dinner there and we all enjoyed our meals.

New ZealandOne suggestion and its a health & safety issue. We are both mobility impaired and found it difficult to enter/exit the pool via the steps. A hand rail that you can hold onto would be great (much like the one at Lava and Amanaki).
We have been coming off and on the Samoa for the past two decades to holiday. We are now at an age where all we want to do is read, eat and swim. Tanoa is perfect for that. The resort exceeded our expectations and we will be back.

New ZealandWe arrived early and were told our room was available but we had to pay extra WST$25 for early entry. We paid it but it but felt that we should not have to. We had a 6.30am checkout in the morning.
Excellent location. Nice big room with a comfortable bed. The air con was great, and the outside balcony was a bonus. Morning staff were very helpful with breakfast as we had an early check out. Swimming pool was nice and drinks were cold.

AustraliaThe restaurant for lunch/dinner has a very basic menu and it's not possible to charge anything to the room - everything must be paid for in cash when dining.
Gorgeous, spacious, well appointed, air-conditioned room. Very comfortable bed, good tv, balcony, iron and ironing board in room. Tea and coffee facilities in room. Excellent breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Very good, free, wifi service.

New ZealandHeatpump was weak as it was very hot in January - further inspection it was missing the panel inside that helps direct the cold air to a specific area of the room. Luckily, I had my own portable fan with me. Parking was full, so we had to park where there were low palm leaves hanging and touching the car. By morning, there were ants on the outside of the car when we lifted the leaves - luckily, we cleaned them off with our water bottles before opening the car doors so they didn't get inside.. Trimming the leaves back would help avoid this issue.
Good size room, comfortable bed. Nice atmosphere.

New ZealandFor breakfast : just wish there was a designated coffee/teas station (so I can make my own, and not wait for someone to serve me) but was overall great!
Room was a good size for me and my family of four. Breakfast - food was good, great egg options included omelette. I loved that there were two separate pools especially for my kids (kids pool). My kids loved them. The portion sizes for the food was amazing; from our room service and dinner options.

AustraliaNo cover on the doona. I much prefer a clean cover than the new fashion of putting a sheet over the cover. One waitress was only nice to the men in our group, quite rude to the women. No Samoan food at the restaurant. Would like taro, green bananas, oka and palusami as options.
Beautiful decorations eg painted carvings on walkways, paintings in lobby. Room clean , correct number of towels for the family, towels changed daily. TV worked and had one local station. Breakfast - wide selection of food. Eggs made to order. Restaurant food was reasonably priced and good variety. Staff were friendly and helpful overall.

New ZealandWhat we didn’t like is the room, specifically the bathroom is very tired looking and to pay $475 per night you would expect room facilities to be up there. The tiles in the bathroom was old and shower needs updating. When booking for 2 adults and 2 kids there should of been enough towels for all and shampoo conditioner etc The housekeeping staff were very accommodating and lovely.
The location is good and pool is good. The staff were friendly.

AustraliaTanoa was one of my favourite hotel in Samoa, because there was a man that plays his guitar and singing at the breakfast area; something that none of other hotels did, but now its boring going to have breakfast, also because there are more new hotels so Tanoa is no longer popular like before.
