The setting is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by trees and mountains. The staff really went out of their way to make our wedding anniversary celebration special by leaving us delicious treats in our room and decorating our bed with rose petals. ❤ The breakfast was also top class. Thank you to all the staff for making us feel welcome.

We had prebooked a villa but on arrival we were shown to an indoor room on the third floor, without explanation. It was our wedding anniversary so we were disappointed that there were apparently no villas available, in the end after a couple of hours delay someone checked out so we were able to get the category of room we had expected

the hotel is around 4 km from down town and there is no free transport , everytime we had to hire van to go, bicicles to rent you have to down load App very unfriedly.

The property is in need of a little lustre however the recent storms might have affected it and they are busy building in a few of the areas which Is always great to see improvement but perhaps the overall feel could use some TLC. The pool area is really beautiful but the pool itself wasn't up to standard in terms of cleanliness and perhaps was getting serviced the next day but didn't bother to go swim again. Also ensure that your room has hot water allocation and your geyser is not affected by load shedding. Lastly two of the rooms we had allocated had damp issues but you can see visible signs of fixing and many hotels and properties in Cape Town have been affected by the very heavy rainfalls over the last few months.

The extensive property was a refreshing sight in Franschoek, located in the mountains just 6 minutes drive into the village but far enough to feel tranquility. A great Menu Breakfast selection and small buffet selection with freshly squeezed juices were all delicious. The restaurant and Terrace views are something so special. The staff are all very attentive and its a quiet hotel with more older couples staying. The rooms are spacious and the new amenities range is good. Security felt extremely safe, even when arriving home after hours there were tons of staff still around and not a ghost town like some other properties which we truly appreciated. Brilliant wifi signal across most of the hotel.

There was no drinking water in my room on days 2 & 3 I had to request this. At breakfast they refused to give me a takeaway box which I found strange.

The facilities are great! The pool area with jazuzzi is heavenly and the historic grounds & buildings are beautiful.

The pool is great and the mainreason for us to come back. Big problem with the lack of sunbeds - it is just not good enough that is is an issue finding a sunbed in such a hotel. Food has become much much better since we were here 3-4 years ago. Service in general is good, but still some of the bad habits with 30 people working but very specific tasks so you can end up waiting for a very long time for eg. your bill, eventhough 10 other waiters are not bussy. Shuttleservice is way to expensive from the hotel and that is dissapointing because you are 100% dependant on taxis/shuttleservice, which is hard to find in the evening in Franschhoek if you do not use the hotel shuttels.

The pool was smaller than it looks in the photos. You have to swim a little of lengths to cover any distance. Perfect for just relaxing.

It’s a big friendly hotel, with plenty of facilities. It’s an a stunning setting overlooking the Franschhoek mountains. I had a beautiful large room over looking the mountains under a tall thatched roof. Service was fantastic and breakfast was plentiful with a great variety of choices. I loved lying by the pool and relaxing. Perfect for a few days of alone time.
