While the room had very nice atmospheric/mood lighting it had no main light so it could be quite dark inside the room. There was also a somewhat musty smell in the room, which we could not get rid off during our 3 nights stay. The breakfast offered cereals, toast & jam, some fresh fruits, croissants and (South Africa typical) a very egg heavy menu. Unfortunately there was very little in alternative healthy options. Overall the breakfast quality was ok, but not great.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We received many recommendations for activities and good restaurants. The location by the river is beautiful and if the weather allows it you can have breakfast directly on the riverside terrace. There are also canoes which you can use free of charge to go and see e.g. the Kingfisher Waterfall. The trip there and back is very nice, even if the waterfall itself is a little underwhelming and can become quite crowded. The room was very tastefully appointed and cosy.

Riverside rooms offer great privacy and comfort. Lovely deck area for breakfast and relaxing. Each unit is different and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast included to start each day. Very friendly and helpful staff and onsite owner. Free use of kayaks on the river.

Nothing we didn’t like, it’s not very modern but that’s part of the charm.

Amazing location, so tranquil right on the river. Loved our room, quirky stay. We took a canoe up the river to the waterfall with a picnic, best day ever. Comfortable bed and very clean. The staff were brilliant, super helpful and had the best recommendations. We had some of the best food at Girls on the Square and Ilali. Breakfast was delicious.

Gorgeous location. Staff so helpful and booked us a table at nearby Joplin's for the most amazing steak. They also arranged for cake and balloons to be in the room when we arrived for our daughter's birthday. Breakfast was lovely and the room was really comfortable.

Simply not applicable in my humble opinion

Moontide continues to deliver an experience that has made us return regularly on our visits to South Africa. The welcome alongside the guest lodge make it a wonderful place to visit and i would highly recommend.

The most beautiful location on the river. Canoes free to use which was great fun doing a canoeing / hiking to a waterfall day trip. We stayed at the boathouse which was gorgeous, right on the water. Comfortable bed, good shower. Lovely staff who gave great recommendations. Breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend, you won’t regret it!!!

The booking made with Booking.com was incorrect. We booked one room with a jacuzzi on the balcomy and another with laundry facilities. Both rooms were splendid but neither had a jacuzzi or any laundry facilities. This was probably the fault of booking.com not the property itself

The location is beautiful and the views absolutely superb. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurants in the local area were very, very good. The rooms were quirky (almost tree houses) and very comfortable.

The location was breathtaking and whole ambience unique from the thatched roof bungalows to breakfast on the terrace overlooking the River. The whole team did everything they could to ensuring your stay was perfect. Sumptuous

The accommodation while functional could benefit from a little updating. Our toilet was particularly troublesome and took an age to refill.

The breakfast was wonderful and in a beautiful lakeside setting. JP, Candi and the rest of the staff were just a delight, so lovely.

Excellent location, absolutely gorgeous room, v comfy bed. The staff were so lovely and went the extra mile to be as helpful as possible. Breakfast was delicious. The bathroom in our bedroom (which was part of the original house) could do with upgrading. Although, to be honest, the slightly dated feel sort of adds to the charm and homely atmosphere, so perhaps it's right the way it is.

This is a really special place - the location is like something from a storybook. We had an amazing time swimming in the river and taking the canoes out - very peaceful and relaxing. The staff are very friendly and really make you feel at home. The owner, Maureen, has owned the property for 40 years and still lives on site and made her way down to chat with guests at breakfast. Hard to know what age she is, but she has more energy than your average 40 year old. Unsurprising, perhaps, if you've spent such a significant amount period of time living in paradise.
