We enjoyed visiting the cathedral and the surrounding old town. Also seeing the steady stream of pilgrims arriving elated at the main square in front of the cathedral. We had hoped to see the priests swinging the censor during mass, but this apparently only happens on certain days of the year. I think that 2-3 days is enough to see the sights.

The streets are narrow and confusing. I got lost a lot. The city is on hills so lots of inclines. But the food was great…a very unique experience. If you can handle the walking and have a gps on your phone, you will love it.

You don't have to be catholic to appreciate the historical aspect of this charming city. We attended noon mass one day and visited the crypt with the supposed relics of St. Santiago (James) on another day. Loads of restaurants, shops, the usual touristy stuff. There's a little "tourist train" that costs about $12 for 2 seniors -- during the 45 min. ride, a recording in many languages gives you the latest info.

Being in the old town of Santiago de Compostela, we were pleasantly surprised to find a completely modernized room with a/c in an ancient building. We were very centrally located to the cathedral and all the tourist areas, and we also had a lovely little balcony overlooking the street below and passersby. The room was very quiet despite the location. Service was quick and friendly, and the best was a gelato shop next to the entrance. We were there for two nights and could have stayed longer if we hadn't had to leave.
Fantastic Location few steps away from plaza obradoiro and the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral . Modern, very clean and very nice hotel . The rooms are spaciuos and very well presented. Very good beds . Very good bathrooms .
Number # 1 choice in santiago de compostela .
Although the hotel does not have parking there is a public parking 1 block away. Yo can arrive by car and leave the luggage and then park the car .
Be sure to check the weather before traveling. We had a great time but we had rainy days .
This was a nicely maintained facility with helpful staff and up-to-date, comfortable accommodations. The location was diagonally across the road from a stairway that led directly into old quarter streets and a short (and twisty) walk to the cathedral. We had a car and were able to park it at a public facility a short walk from the location. There was regular traffic on the street, but the neighborhood was quiet and free of the usual late-night loudness of Spain's infamous nightlife.
I needed a one-night stay and wanted it to be in the centre. I chose this place because of good rating score by previous guests and it still exceeded my expectations! The location is great, the room had everything I needed and the breakfast was very good, and considering the low price, it really was a positive surprise! AND it was the first hotel that really managed to satisfy my special request of a flat soft pillow (it otherwise seems impossible request in Spain).
The hotel is in an ideal location in the heart of the city near the Cathedral. Our room was clean comfortable and very large with a bay window sitting area. Beds are very comfortable and the bathroom large too. Staff were friendly and helpful - letting us leave our luggage before we even checked in. They also helped us secure a very early taxi to the airport. The breakfast is wonderful with an assortment of breads, yogurt, cheese, ham and lovely tarta de Santiago.
The place was larger than I had expected. There were many rooms hidden in this building. One wouldn't have guessed that there was a mini hotel behind the door and lobby. The concierge was very helpful. The restaurant across the way is excellent. Have the coffee flan. (But serves beginning at 9pm,) and there is a handy pharmacy in the same plaza. The place is a 2 mile/ 4km from Santiago. Most people would have continued on to Santiago, but I needed a stop here.
We arrived at the hotel after travelling up through Spain from Sevilla and staying in a mixture of up market hotels - paradores and NH hotels. This was better than all of them. The room was spacious and comfortable, the public areas were very good and welcoming, there was an attractive garden in the centre of the hotel and it was easy to get into the old town. The hotel felt that it was cared for by the owners - it had a good family feel.
we loved the charm of his hotel. It is in a perfect location to visit the cathedral and all of old town Santiago. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was great and the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The pillows are quite hard but they have softer ones on request. Also, if you are facing Rua Villar, it can be a little noisy in the wee hours. We would definitely return.
The locations is great, close to the train station and the old town, and the hostel is very easy to find and with elevator (Quite big for buildings in Spain). The room was big and clean, the beds were comfortable and with plugs next to them. The water was well heated and with good pressure, and the blankets and pillows were good. Also the view from the room was very nice.
The staff were super helpful. The two ladies gave us lots of information about where to go, best places to eat, printed out our travel documents for us, and booked out taxi for the airport. The hotel is in a super location close to excellent eating places and right on the edge of the old town, a short walk to the cathedral. We were made to feel very welcome.
Lovely hotel in a great location just outside of the Santiago pedestrian area. The staff was friendly and efficient. We were able to drop our bags off early and tour the town before checking in. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a great bed! The breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip. Highly recommend.
this was my best hotel on my trip! very hospitable hostess and wonderful atmosphere as if you were at home. They even prepared mulled wine for me, although they don't make it in Spain, and it was so good! :) The fire in the stove is cozy. I will return if possible. Above all praise. I highly recommend it!
I was traveling with my brother. He is in his 70's and he was ill. The staff was very accommodating in working with us. We were walking the El Camino de Santiago and continued on to Finsterra, Spain. We stayed at Mexico PR upon our arrival to Santiago and again when we returned from Finsterra. Thank you
Very central in Santiago. 5 Minutes walk to the old town. Friendly and helpful staff. Good accommodation, bedroom and bathroom. met all our needs and a handy walk to the main bus station to get the bus to Sarria. Airport bus also stops outside the hotel.
Girls from reception are great, friendly:-) Hotel is nice, clean, near cathedral. The only thing that was bad was our dark room with small window to backyard. But we stayed just two nights and we had beautiful sunny weather.
It is a nice facility not that far from the Santiago de Compostela airport, at outskirts of the city.
Non-pretentious, bur very much functional (which is for me very excellent correspondence with character of Spain :) ).
Small, nice and quiet hotel in the old town Santiago. Very close to the cathedral, restaurants, shops and parking. Reliable contact with the reception for help and check in.
