The old guy at reception was the sweetest guy. Said his English wasn’t great but did an awesome job of explaining everything to us. It was a quaint, modest place that felt very welcoming. We got to set up our own futon instead of staff coming in and doing it for us. We Really enjoyed the privacy and it was a fun experience. View was amazing. We had a smoking room, it didn’t smell of smoke at all. Dinner offered was not your typical Ryokan, it had options like spaghetti bolognese. I loved it here.

This is the perfect little onsen for a visitor to Japan. It’s tiny enough that you feel as if you’re in someone’s home, but big enough to offer lovely facilities such as the baths and a restaurant. A real flavour of Japanese hospitality

The staff were amazing and the location was great. Out enough to rest from the city but a bus ride away to town.

Very friendly Staff. Really nice onsen, quiet and comfy. Close to Tenjindaira ski Resort. Big traditional japanese breakfast. Big rooms.

Second visit, love everything about the house - the owner is very nice and available, the social areas are great for big groups and bedrooms and facilities clean and fresh. We really recommend this place!

Great location (near to town but still quiet), very friendly host (gave plenty of tips for restaurants and places to visit) with a few quirky furnishings (mostly cat related)

Breakfast great although if staying for more than one day, a western breakfast option would be great.

Comfortable japanise style house in a picturesque location

This lovely Airbnb property is a gem find. It is located very near the heart of the town, you can walk from this property to all the nice cafes and eateries around this place. There’s a weekend market at the town center with crafts workshops for the kids and adults. There’s plenty to do from hikes, water activities (in summer and autumn), onsens (all year round) and skiing. It’s about 30mins drive to ski slopes. The property is fully furnished just bring your toothbrush. You can cook your meals in the lovely kitchen (my husband has kitchen envy now). And if you want to, you can let the owners (who live literally next door btw) know when booking and they can prepare the BBQ pit for you. It has washer&dryer, a lovely bathroom with bathtub. Yes it has free wifi. Great for couples or small families. It has a western bedroom with a queen size bed. There is also a tatami room that sleeps 2. This Airbnb is so nice you don’t want to leave it when you get there!

Everything - lovely rooms, great food and fabulous onsen

We loved our stay here! Beautiful onsen baths, delicious and thoughtfully prepared local food and the staff were so helpful and kind. Really great value - we will happily come back again!
