Accommodation in Onomichi

Atmosphere - very very nice/friendly people at the reception. - perfect located around 5-7 min away from the JR station / 5 min away from rent a bike service (if you want to cycle the shimanami kaido) + another 2 min to the ferry (start of shimanami kaido) + also senkoji temple is not to far away (just have to climb the steps) or take the ropeway (around 15 min to walk)

Very generous room size, good temperature control and a window that opened slightly for fresh air. Washing and drying facilities good. Lovely breakfast and all round great staff here. We left bikes under cover in the small carpark and they were safe there.

Beautiful property, minimalistic Japanese interior very skillfully decorated making it luxurious. The views were gorgeous, especially at night and our room had a huge balcony overlooking the city. Upon check in, you get to enjoy the view from their reception with a complimentary tea and cookie which was a lovely way to start our stay. The staff knew it was our honeymoon and not only offered us two drinks tokens to use on their rooftop bar but also prepared the cutest breakfast fruit plate for us after our breakfast meal. They also kindly tailored the breakfast meal for us as they knew we didn’t eat seafood and there was a free refill for rice and miso soup. The service was incredible, staff were very friendly and helpful. The drip coffee provided in the rooms was also delicious.

Neat little room - tiny, but well appointed and efficient! Big step up from the genkan to the room. Not all rooms have this so be sure to check if you have accessability issues. It was very quiet since January is the off season. I was the only person in the restaurant at breakfast both days I was there.

Had an overnight stay with my girlfriend. From the greeting straight out of the taxi, the introduction to the grounds and our room (a whole second story with a view overlooking the ryokan and water!), to the friendly farewell, the experience was exceptional and the staff beyond excellent. The dinner was a surreal pleasure, the highlight of the stay. We could only wish we could stay longer. For us, completely worth it for the price as a special treat.

Perfect post-adventure stop to recharge. Peaceful island, beautiful facility, great hospitality from the staff. Already thinking of coming back again.

Anago-no-Nedoko is a very cozy and atmospheric guesthouse. We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed exploring every corner of this marvellous house. The people working there were super kind and helpful. The breakfast was super tasty and we got a dry spot to store our bicycles. Big recommendation for everyone visiting Onomichi!

The property is right next to the start point of shimanami kaido. Very clean. The hotel sent my luggage to Imabari station, so I could make the Shimanami Kaido without my luggage and the staff helped me a lot, when i lost my camera! Would recommend this property!

The building and lobby looked great. The option to use the inhouse Cafe/bar is neat. The area around your respective bed is big and allows for storage by the bed of what you brought with you. Even my big check-in luggage How the bathroom and shower is set up makes it look neat and clean. The shower was divided in shower space and dry space with 2 shelves, where you can place your stuff.

Carolina and her brother Percy were some of the warmest hosts we have had in Japan! The rooms were so nice and cozy (especially nice since it was freezing outside)! The breakfast was delicious and they have a great little diy kitchenette for coffee, tea, pop-corn and other treats!! They are fluent in Spanish also which was really nice! Wish we were staying longer in Onomichi!

Excellent traditional Japanese style house with high quality modern amenities beautifully integrated making for a unique experience. Lovely interior design, and thoughtful owner who was in constant communication via the booking app. There were 4 adult bikes which we could use for free which was very useful and made travelling into the centre even easier. The kitchen was very well stocked with good quality equipment, even with oil, salt, and sauces which is very unusual and it made preparing meals a pleasure. The house was comfortably suitable for 6 people.

This is a truly exceptional, beautiful historic property from the early C20 that has been restored and presented with loving attention to detail. It’s a privilege to stay somewhere like this. Lovely furnishings and a tuned piano…

Property is fully equipped, spacious, clean and comfortable. Understandably due to its countryside location and age of property, there’s are quite a lot of bugs but (sorry I really cannot deal with cockroaches, found 2-3 of them during the stay). There’s so much nice toilettries provided. Everything you need is there. Fair enough you only use the number of beds amounting to the number of people booked. The owner also let us in an hour earlier, which is very kind.

This is a stunning property up on the hill with glorious views. The pictures on this site don't do it justice at all! We arrived to find a beautiful Japanese garden and after uploading our passport details we gained access. The house is just beautiful, with a wrap around balcony overlooking Onomichi and the islands. The traditional elements of the house have been preserved with some beautiful design features with some rooms built into the rock. There are 3 very comfortable bedrooms, a huge bathroom with a roll top bath with views out the back. The fridge was full of wine, fizz, beer, iced tea etc, if we had stayed a week I doubt we could have got through it all, incredibly generous! Lots of tea and coffee too and there is an ice maker, a microwave, a rice cooker, a toaster and a big hob (no oven as is usual). There is also a very cute bakery about a minute's walk away which is great for breakfast. Be aware that it's a steep climb up from town, not suited to those with mobility issues, but there are always taxis at the station which are very cheap if you don't fancy the climb.

Great place but very difficult and confusing to get to.

The hospitality of the family who owns the place was truly heartwarming. The hotel has a charming 1970s vibe, as if time has stood still, offering a wonderfully nostalgic experience. It felt like stepping into an old Japanese film. Before my stay, I fell ill after eating some seafood, but the kind lady at the hotel restaurant kindly prepared a special rice porridge for me, which was incredibly thoughtful.
