Malaysia’s highest area accessible by car, the Cameron Highlands is an oasis of calm with lush, undulating hills and stepped tea plantations that go on for miles. A golf course is just south, and further along the road is Tanah Rata – the region’s largest town. Jungle trails lead from here into the surrounding forest and to the Parit and Robinson waterfalls. Just outside town is a traditional settlement of the Orang Asli, Malaysia’s aboriginal people. Guided tours are available for a wonderful insight into their lifestyle.
