Location and Transport
Ngurah Rai International Airport offers easy access to Bali’s southern tourist spots, and is just 2 miles (3 kilometres) from Kuta’s resort centre and 8 miles (13 kilometres) from Denpasar. A taxi will take around 35 minutes to reach Denpasar and cost about IDR 125,000, while a taxi to Kuta costs around IDR 80,000.

We love Bali but not fond of Kuta, too much of a party town for us. This doesn't mean it may not suit others looking for a party vibe but we would prefer Sanur or Ubud and will come back to explore other regions as well.

Legian has a good vibe about it with plenty to do, lovely beach can sit and relax with lots of eating places ,fabulous sunsets, lots of great bars/restaurants around something to do weather you want lively or quiet. Lots of good places to go shopping have Massages or sit back at your hotel relaxing by the pool feeling like your a million miles away from everything as once in hotel no matter how close to main streets you can't here or see it. 😊

Just the right balance between local and tourist. Nice and quiet but all the shops you need are within walking distance. Easy to get anywhere with a GRAB (same as Uber) and incredibly cheap ... a few dollars gets you just about anywhere. We used Grab almost all the time. Our teenage kids loved the GRAB scooters :)

Busy and bustling-everything you expect Bali to be. Close enough but also removed slightly so a perfect mix. Not as much beach activity as Legian and Kuta, but everything else that you need is close by. So many restaurants to choose from !!!

Great city to explore... wish we would have had more time to look around. Everyone we met or talked to were very friendly and kind. Highly recommend. Be prepared to spend time in a vehicle as the traffic is a challenge at best. We went to one of the local malls, enjoying it immensely.

Traffic is one way only along the beach road and usually busy. Also has major shopping centre called beach walk where you can get nearly anything. Some nice accommodation and restaurants along beachfront

Nice place to stay in, you will not feel lonely as this area is very lively.
The One Legian hotel is not a luxury hotel but it met all our needs to find ATM, food, laundry, transport and nearby Kuta beach with its beautiful mall.
The hotel has escalators and lifts with weighing scale at the lobby.

Love the Double Six area, lots of great restaurants, white sandy beach. Great place to watch the sunset.
Only downside was the Hawkers on the beach, they were relentless!
Would recommend Sunset Rooftop bar, Cocoon, Zanzibar, and Gado Gado for dinner and drinks

It was easy to get around but little to do nearby. A great turtle conservation centre that will keep most people occupied for up to an hour. It's very easy to get to the ports - one of the best port experiences I've had in Bali where you aren't overwhelmed by people trying to / demanding they order you taxis or sell you things.
