Host was responsive with assistance on stopping at the supermarket after he arranged to pick me up down town. Able to do last minute laundry before flying back to South Africa. Host arranged a Taxi on shopping day, assisted with directions to down town taxi and again the morning of my flight.
Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Overlooking the ocean, airport and beautiful church building.

I made a late evening reservation due to a last minute change in my travel plans after arriving at the Tahiti airport. I needed an overnight stay and was lucky I found such a good accommodation for which the host Wilfred made even better as we discussed visiting nearby Moorea island and the two ferry options to get there (select the white boat 😊). He showed me around the outdoor lounge and kitchen area adjacent to the pool. The area has a great view of the sky and ocean since the LODGE sits atop hills. The personal touches are things one would not receive at a standard hotel. I’d definitely recommend the LODGE to others.

Punaauia is a great place to stay, you can eat where locals eat and go to normal shops instead of all the touristy places in Papeete. It is also close to some great beaches where you can snorkel straight off the beach and see coral, colourful fish, and turtles! I would stay here again!
For a low cost eatery with large portions head to Roulotte Anita, or for a more luxe French meal and cocktails, the Blue Banana is great!
For breakfast we went to Ma Petite Boheme and had the best omelette I have had in my life!
A fun place to visit is Grottes de Maraa, where you can swim in a natural pool inside a cave.
A must do is a visit to Museum of Tahiti and The Islands - very informative and wonderful displays, we learned so much here!

Very relaxing and the French joie de vivre made for a lovely holiday. The sunsets were stunning, the scenery behind the ville was amazing and breathtaking. My go-to favourite choice for great live entertainment, friendly welcoming staff, wonderful food and all-round fantastic nights was the 3 Brasseurs, across the road from my hotel and facing the waterfront marina. I do recommend the Museum of Tahiti and her Islands, it was extremely interesting and beautiful, although it was further away than I thought it would be. The shopping was good fun too.

A short taxi ride from downturns and the airport but our hosts made all our bookings and shops and a market were a 10 minute walk down the hill. It can be a little hot walking in Tahiti. Traffic chaotic if you come from a quiet location.

I was not keen on Papeete.
I was not keen on Papeete. Not what I had in mind for a trip to Tahiti. But only a 50+/- minutes away by ferry is Moorea island which is fantastic with white sandy beaches (sand from worn down coral making it a bit sharp on the feet so wear rubber swimming shoes). Very kind and pleasant people and beautiful lagoons. Lots of snorkling and scuba and even sail boarding. By contrast, Papeete tends to have what are called "black sand beaches" which comes from sand made from lava that are actually more of a dirty dark brown. Not appealing to us even though there were plenty of people who loved the beaches and the water.

Very hard to locate the actual apartment as there are no signs and the name appears to be wrong. Lucky for us to find a lovely generous occupant who helped us into our studio apartment. Fair walk to the shops due to the property being so high up the hill but the views from our balcony was fabulous. The swimming pool was a very big plus.

Very new, clean and modern.
Very new, clean and modern. Two air conditioners that work very well. Large supply of cooking utensils. Welcome water, juice and beer in the refrigerator. Private parking. Hosts were easy to contact with any questions. Store a block away and many restaurants a short drive. Ocean is right across the street.

I took a day trip 4x4 Jungle/River excursion with "Te Mana" company and I really liked it. I recommend taking such a tour to see the beautiful inland of the Tahiti Nui. The waterfront "Marina" in the downtown Papeete is really nice. You can walk on the promenade next to the water for a good hour, and observe locals walking, having picnics, playing sports, reading.. The park is beautiful and bustling with life. At night there are food stands.

Fabulous · 2,047 reviews
The hotel is conveniently located within a short drive to the PPT airport. Complimentary shuttle service is provided by the hotel to/from the airport, which is a great aspect of staying here. The air conditioning in the room worked well. There are several restaurants within 10-15 minute walk, though the hotel is located on the side of the hill, so you may need to take a taxi if you are physically limited. The room was spacious and the bed/pillows were very comfortable.
