Set on a hill and located inside the Hospitality School of Tahiti, Tiki Hôtel offers a 24/7 front desk, a breakfast restaurant and accommodation with a patio or balcony. Great to support the hospitality students. Our bungalow was in great shape- the main building had some places that needed a paint touch up. Although not all the students spoke fluent English, they were well supported and there was always someone to help. Even though we arrived at 2.30 am!
Located in Teahupoo, Villa BO provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge and a garden. A continental breakfast is available daily at the bed and breakfast. We had a wonderful time, especially enjoyed The friendliness of the staff, and the amazing vue
Located in Punaauia, only 2 km away from Faa'a International Airport and a few steps away from the Intercontinental Resort of Tahiti, this remodeled apartment offers views of the beautiful Moorea... Very good location, in a gated community. Very clean and fully equipped.
Conveniently located just a 5-minute drive from the Papeete ferry wharf, Fare Suisse provides an excellent base for visitors of Tahiti. We loved this hotel! Beni and Therese were so helpful, the location was fantastic, the room was clean and the bed super comfortable. We were so happy to stay here and wish we had booked it for our return trip to Tahiti.

Very interesting city in Tahiti. Not much to see, you will cover almost everything in the city in few hours, but it is really worth to walk around. I was surprised by wonderful streetfood scene here and what a nice marketplace!
Papeete is quite edgy so my advice is to find a quiet spot or step outside. I visited the Museum of Tahiti and the Islands at Punaauia. The grounds and gardens are lovely. Eating's a mixed bag, especially for a lone Vegan. Fish is good. Sunday closes, though I managed to bag myself delightful Fri-fris (figure-eight coconut-milk fried batter doughnut-type cakes for breakfast) from a stall-holder who only comes to the very early Sunday market. Meet the locals, most are gracious and caring.
Its a busy town and not typical of the rest of Tahiti but a good place to begin your trip and find out where to go and what to do. Tip: if you want to hire a car do it at the airport don't leave it for later and hope!!
Peaceful, authentic piece of Tahiti. Awesome locals, world class surf breaks, at the "end of the road". Worth going out on a local boat.
This is definitely not the part of Tahiti you should stay (unless you are a surfer pro). There is no restaurants, shops, or people around after 4pm. Not even beach to enjoy. You should stay up in the big island around Papeete. Take the car and go to check on teahupoo - the round trip won't take you more than half day
Punaauia works as short stay location near the airport for relaxing on arrival or leaving Tahiti, if you can stay somewhere that you can access a pool or lagoon. It's not a particularly easy place to get to except by car particularly at the weekends when buses are rare. LIkewise many shops, restaurants and the museum seem to close Sundays. We couldn't find pleasant places to go for a walk, the main road is busy, with limited footpaths, and it was often hard to get to the beaches, perhaps we just didn't find the best footpaths.
My husband and I spent 3 days in Papeete before boarding the Windstar cruise yacht Wind Spirit. We enjoyed Papeete, a very friendly place, and never felt threatened, however we didn't venture far from the main road in the evenings, and avoided anything untoward. There are lots of Pearl shops selling Tahitian pearls in all tones of black, all beautiful. The surrounding waters are aqua, and snorkelling with black tipped reef sharks and tropical fish and rays is the norm. The markets sell local produce, and souvenirs, clothing and of course pearls and jewellry. We stayed in an apartment, which although close to the supermarket, was disappointingly not up to our expectations. The 11 night cruise around the Tuamotu and Society Islands was fantastic. The yacht was superb, our cabin/suite was well positioned and very comfortable. All meals had excellent choices, and we were waited on quietly and expertly. Nothing was too much trouble, even to the point of following up a request for sourdough bread at breakfast which the chef made especially for us. We can highly recommend visiting Tahiti and taking this trip, and hope to do another Wind Spirit cruise.
At first we weren’t very impressed with Papeete. Many of the buildings are run down and the roads and footpaths are in need of maintenance. Once you get past that the town has a lot of character and there are some lovely shops and restaurants. It’s great to sit and have a cold drink at Le Retro on the Main Street opposite the marina and watch the world go by. The food there is great too and the town really comes alive when the cruise ships come in. The locals are friendly and the food trucks at Place Vaiete offer a selection of well priced meals in a vibrant outdoor setting. French and Tahitian culture blend beautifully in Papeete. A fun town in which to spend a few days, but the pace is busy so make sure you get to see the rest of the island where you will find things far more relaxed.
You might think that the main town on the iconic island of Tahiti would be magical. You would be wrong - it's a dump, and a very expensive dump at that. Get out of town or, better still, go to the other islands!
An interesting, bustling Tahitian town but more dilapidated than expected. It’s hard to keep buildings clean in the tropics but the town would benefit from a clean up (rubbish and sewerage). ... A « Paradise lost » perhaps??

Spacious and well equipped apartment for two in small gated complex. Very safe and secure. Lots of staples provided such as milk, tea, coffee, cooking items. Big balcony with comfortable seating and views out to sea. Small but inviting communal swimming pool. Located in best area ion Tahiti and very close to marina which has three very good restaurants (walkable in 15 / 20 mins if you have a torch and are prepared to walk along busy roadside). Very accommodating host - even gave us a lift to the ferry terminal when we left.

I really enjoyed my stay at Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort - the room I had booked was amazing and it was so lovely to hear the waves breaking onto the beach at night. I loved the volcanic sand beach in front of the hotel - a very nice change from the usual white sandy beaches! And the pool was pretty good also. Food was great and staff super friendly and helpful. Loved the coffee machine in the room :) There's also great supermarkets about 25minute walk away and the free shuttle service into Papeete is great.

The courteous friendly, polite and efficient staff. It was a quick process to obtain our room. The room had plenty of space for lounging in, with a nice deck to view the sea and pool area. Good clean large bathroom. Lovely well cared for grounds with a sandy bottom pool to enjoy swimming in. The seafood buffet and Tahitian show were excellent. The shuttle bus provided by the hotel had a very informative and interesting driver. It is only a short walk to cafes and a supermarket to get extra provisions.

Valerie is the perfect host and surprises with her knowledge of Tahiti and her helpfulness. She made our stay really wonderful, as she showed us Tahiti for a whole day for small money. The apartment is super - clean, with balcony and nice view, big bathroom, kitchen with everything you might need. Location is also very good - Supermarket and bakery next to the apartment, to the centre 15 mins walk, which you need for digestion after great food from the food trucks. Totally recommended to stay here!

The apartment is very well appointed-Samuel has thought of everything. The hibiscus and Tahitian toiletries in the bathroom and bottle of water in the fridge were a lovely touch. The apartment is very handy to everything-we chose the location as we caught the ferry to Moorea for the day. Great communication from Samuel-he offered to assist with ferry and taxi bookings and met us promptly on our arrival and gave us a good run down of the apartment.

Amazing stay for the resonable price. For sure the best place to stay in Tahiti, much better than exspensive hotel. Clean and big room, fantastic people, good room equipment, very good and fast wifi, close to supermarket and a little further to the city center, but for sure you can do it on foot. The transfer to the airport was also did very well. I didn't expect that quality in a guest house in Tahiti. I really reccomend.

The early check in was welcomed, the large room and excellent restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, in a number of places on Tahiti we experienced some aragance and dismissal as we do speak French, this hotel was different. The gardens were lovely, stunning trees and a beautiful dog and three four cats. Take them some treats or save them a bit of your meal, they will love it.

Best host, welcome us from the airport. The apartment is very clean and comfortable, is very near to the city Papeete. The host and his wife both can speak chinese, which is very convenient for us. She brought us to the city and direct us where to go. They taught us some simple french. They are lovely people, thank you for your services, we are very enjoy our trip in Tahiti. Merci beaucoup.

The Reception staff were very helpful organising a bus excursion around Tahiti Nui. Dinner was very pleasant in the restaurant. The third morning we bought breakfast supplies at the neighbouring shop and had baguette, Breton cheese, juice and fruit on the balcony - awesome! The view from my room was superb and hotel location very good!

The owner of this hotel and his wife are very friendly and professional. They meet you in the airport on time, the transfer is free, they help to organize activities and answer all your questions. We stayed in Tahiti only one night and we wanted to have a hotel close to the airport. Fare Suisse Tahiti was very convenient for us.

Mahana Lodge has a great location in the centre of Tahiti, close to the market, restaurants, shops, ferry station, and not too far from the airport. The hostel was simple but clean and the staff very helpful. They let me rebook my dates for the next weekend at no cost, as I decided to go to other islands earlier.

Excellent pool, new seating look to be good- when built. Great large rooms, excellent beds and plenty of seating. Good air con that stays on when you leave the room so drop the fan speed. Restaurant very good but like much of Tahiti pricy, but hotel is good value compared to others in French Polynesia.

Perfect for my short stay in Tahiti. Beautiful Apartment, well equipped kitchen, nice private backyard and a view of the sea from the bed. Supermarket, Post-office, ATM and Restaurants right next door or across the street (literally!). I felt right at home and would definitely stay here again. :)

A cozy place in Papeete. If you are considering to stay in Tahiti for a day or more, I highly recommend this apartment. There was everything that you need for a short term stay. Very close to the city center.

Such a handy location to the airport and easy to get to after a late nigjt flight. Having breakfast supplied a great way to start our holiday as we didnt need to go shopping. They booked a taxi for us next morning which turned up on time.

Off the beaten track but someone has had a great vision for a calm retreat. There was a restaurant on the property which we would have used if we’d known about it but had bought food down the road. I joined in with the evening yoga session and loved that - as well as an hours French lesson!
