Mactan is too far from the rest of Cebu City. The traffic going to and from Mactan is awful and the taxi fares are way too high..The taxi drivers ask for extra on top of the metered fare to compensate for the traffic congestion. Why the passenger should pay is beyond me. I have no plans to return to Mactan or Cebu City again. There is nothing to see or do in either place that cannot be done elsewhere without the congestion and higher costs. The whole place is highly over rated and there are far better destinations in the Philippines.
we stayed at the beach.nice place. first day we went out and visited two casino's on Mactan.day 2 was our silver wedding anniversary.so we lounged by the pool and by the beach and had a nice meal. day 3 we went into Cebu and visited 3 casino's. day 4 travelled home. the resort is a bit far from places but manageable.
We loved the beach and our lagoon view room the most. We ate mostly at kilamanjaro although there were many options. We left resort for a day and didn't return for a long time because of all the traffic. This bummed us out. We thought a morning out would be easy. And oh yeah.... There are no taxis on resort. Make sure you plan ahead if you need a ride. This resort is beautiful but expensive. If you have the money to stay.... Then you should!
The people of Mactan are hospitable and friendly. We love the food and the sights. We did not realize that there is so much to see, especially during a side trip to Oslob. The Mactan Shrine is a must...for its history and emotional impact.
We stayed on Lapu-Lapu island which was far from Cebu City (where everything is). We did this because we thought the beaches would be nice, but they were not the white-sand, blue water beaches we were expecting. They were quite rocky. Recommend staying in Cebu City instead for convenience.
we thought that the hotel was close to the airport but found out that it was within squatters area. We did not stay long to explore tourist attraction within lapu lapu city but we noted that there were several restaurants along the way
