The location is peaceful and beautiful, right by the lake — perfect for relaxing. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. What made this place special is the heart behind it. The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

Juma is a really nice place to stay. Very nice apartments (mine had a really nice balcony) with beautiful view on Toba lake. Best of staying at Juma was the owner Pino, who made me feel at home, and made an itenary for me every morning when I rented a scooter and traveled the area.
Ali is a great host. My friend and I both got food poisoning on the way to Lake Toba and he took great care of us, making sure we had everything we needed. The view of the lake is wonderful, even from the bed if you're lying there sick all day ;) . When we were able to eat, we had delicious food at the veggie/vegan restaurant above the apartment! Ali can also help organise day trips for you.
Great location on TukTuk, could easily walk to all the restaurants. Nice view over the lake from the room. Although not included, a lot of breakfast options. Scooter rental was okay, prices on Samosir a little bit higher. Lastly, the owner arranged that the ferry would pick us up in front of the hotel.
- Location and views are absolutely stunning, best spot of Tuktuk if you ask me. - Rooms are basic but provide what you need. - Restaurant is really good! - Chill vibe - Good rental scooters (go see Samosir island!) Things that would improve a stay even more: A hammock on the balcony and some (reggae) music in the restaurant to enhance the reggae vibes;)
Very friendly staff, helped us with ongoing transport when we were leaving. Hands down the best shower we’ve had in 9 months of travelling Asia!! Great location and good scooter rental. Highly recommend

The hotel is on an elevated standard compared to other hostels and homestays around which is due to the good service and quality they offer. The breakfast was lovely served and offered a variety of food (Omelett, Fried eggs, pancake, fruits, toast, juice etc). The room was spacious and had a nice balcony with lake views. Mattress was comfortable and it was quiet at night. The hotel is located very close to good restaurant and to several scooter rentals.
