Levanto Beach
This wide, sandy beach is the perfect place to bask in the glorious Ligurian sun. The beach was the best that I saw in my Cinque Terre travels. Not only did it have sand beaches (most I saw in 5T were rocky) but the ocean was crystal clear and quite warm. There were a lot of people on the beaches/swimming - but I did not feel like it was too crowded. Levanto was a great place to stay, if we had stayed in any of the 5T towns I would have been bored at night. Levanto had a lot going on at night and there was always another place to explore. There are no sharks/large animals in the area and I found myself at peace taking long swims a few hundred feet out from shore.
Levanto is a great option for visiting the Cinque Terre. Levanto is a little more "gritty" then the villages of the Cinque Terre. I don't mean this in a bad way, more that the town had more personality then the actual Cinque Terre villages (that said, we did not stay in any the of Cinque Terre we only passed through on our hikes).
Was quite crowded with rows of chairs and umbrellas for rent, but we went later in the afternoon as there were a bit fewer people. Water was warm and can't beat saying you swam in the Ligurian Sea!
Swimming in the ocean, laying in the sun. Both public and private (with umbrella) available.
