My wife and I often go away for a couple of days in an inexpensive guest house because we need only a bed and a shower because we're never there. Michael has raised the bar with regards to what we should expect for our money. A warm and gregarious host who is genuinely invested in the quality of your stay. It's the little touches; chocolates on the bed, doughnuts in the jar and prosecco in the mini-fridge. Ideally placed between Matlock and Matlock Bath, I can't recommend Heathbank House highly enough.

The warm and friendly atmosphere at the Red Lion from both owners and staff was genuine and welcoming. The restaurant had a very relaxed warm vibe. Good selection for breakfast and a wholesome tasty dinner menu. The bedroom/bathroom was comfortable, quiet, clean and well appointed.

We loved the homeliness of this guesthouse. Our hostess was delightful, friendly and caring. Breakfasts were a highlight. The room was lovely and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The location is excellent with numerous bars and restaurants nearby. And it was great to have safe parking literally outside the front door. Thank you again for a lovely 4 night stay.

A fabulous place to stay. Accommodation, breakfast and views great. Hosts exceedingly welcoming and helpful. The best place we have stayed whilst travelling in the UK for three weeks. Would recommend the Gables to anyone travelling to the Peak district.
