The owners met my parents on arrival and showed them around the premises. Everything was as stated on the website, or even better. It clearly is an old/vieux house and therefore a bit dark, filled with trinkets and (how lovely!) hundreds of English/French books. Very spacious and super clean. Almost every bedroom having its own bathroom was a huge plus, as were the washing machine (children are messy) and literally piles of extra bath towels and bed linens in a walk-in closet. The kitchen has everything one may need, including dishwasher tablets, kitchen towels (a pet peeve of mine), enough pots and pans to cook for the village of Deviat. The garden is gorgeous, and the covered patio with a 20 person dining table brilliant. We had a long list of all the churches and wineries we'd visit, but we spent all our time on the terrace, sitting in those oddly comfortable office chairs, enjoying the children playing in the large yard. We booked this house because of the private pool and it was wonderful. Heated (against a small, agreed on fee), easy to get into/out of, clean, some pool toys, private. The owner, a British lady named Carol, always responded promptly to my questions, and my parents and sister had a blast chatting with her and her partner. Although they live in the neighbouring house, we had complete privacy. The photo was taken from the largest bedroom, facing the garden and pool. A small bit of the covered patio is visible.

Beautiful location overlooking Montmoreau. Our Host Hervè was exceptional. He did everything to be sure we were comfortable. Breakfast every morning was included with homemade jam from fruit from his garden, which we took on the terrace. This is a very special place and we hope to return.

Barry and Graham were extremely welcoming, Barry went over and above - on our first day even bringing us a glass of wine and some lunch as we were relaxing by the pool, and on our last night letting us tuck into his fresh bread to help cure the following days hangover. We only stayed a few days and as it was our first time in this part of France we came underprepared on all fronts having arrived very late at night. Barry did everything he could to fill any holes in our plans. Myself and Lauren are lured back by both the people and the Chateaux. The pictures are stunning but it's even better in real life. We had an amazing weekend! If you're staying in this part of France it is a must visit - even if stopping for only a few nights, and a perfect spot for a small - medium sized wedding.
