Our stay was exceptional. We booked the property based on its proximity to Monsanto but were very pleasantly surprised to find that there was a trail directly from the casa to a castle and fossils, just a few minutes walk away. We were greeted with fresh bread, fruits, water, wine, and cheese (and air conditioning!) which was wonderful after a long drive. Our dog was warmly greeted and a food/water bowl was provided. This property was by far the most overall luxurious rental that we’ve stayed in Portugal (after stays throughout the country over the past 6 months). I would put it in the Airbnb Luxe category. Plush towels, massive walk-in shower, high end finishes, high-end appliances (including a washing machine with complimentary quality detergent for use), plush towels, quality dinnerware and cooking supplies, spices and olive oil there were high quality (not just random things that other people likely had just left behind), a generous amount of coffee pods and tea, an assortment of games and books, and quality furniture. There was a high attention to detail throughout and the casa was spotless. Great communication, friendliness, and a desire to go above and beyond to be helpful and make us feel at home.

With genuinely friendly and caring hosts, Zion's Jardim is set in a lovely pastoral landscape filled with birdsong, flowers, olive and cork trees, and possesses an unobstructed view of Monsanto (just a few kilometers away). Large, quiet, and very clean rooms within a beautiful typical stone Portuguese house allow for a good night's sleep, and the large pergola is simply perfect to enjoy a lovely breakfast that might include fresh homemade bread, with pear or fig jams, and veggies picked that morning from the garden.

The house is beautifully decorated with a lot of fantasy and imagination. There are fresh flowers on the table, fresh fruit from the owners garden, and home-made marmalade. Probably the best sleeping night we spent in Portugal: absolutely quiet, fresh warm air with the windows opened in the bedrooms. In the morning Maria cooked for us excellent breakfast - we could not finish all the food that they gave us. The boulders-surrounded houses of Monsanto are several minutes walk up the road. And you can park on the street right at the Casa da Maria.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mont'Santo. The house was remarkably spacious and comfortable. The house has four levels. First floor - kitchen and living room. Second floor: Bedrooms and bathroom/shower. Third floor: Another bedroom with a private balcony. Fourth floor: Large rooftop terrace with a small hut containing the laundry facilities. The house is located near the top of the town, a short walk to everything that you might want to visit. There is even a few places to park a small car nearby, with more just down the road. We enjoyed exploring the town and castle. There are a few small restaurants nearby.

We've never stayed in a place so quaint and quirky. We loved how unique and cozy it is! My wife called it a hobbit house. We spent hours on the balcony looking over the landscape, sipping coffee or wine. Would love to go back. You must be prepared for the uphill hike to the home!
