Casa Albelo de Geres was the highlight of our trip. I fell in love with the owners Miguel and Fernando. The location is absolute heaven. We hiked right outside of the guest house to the next village where we ate lunch and then taxied back. There was running water and lush plants throughout the entire hike. The lake, mountains, plants, rock formations and animals will remain in our memories for a long time. We at breakfast and lunch at the guest house. The culinary experience is hands down one of the most memorable parts of our trip. We tried everything that was offered to us. We tried special traditional dishes that are special at Easter. Everything is homegrown and homemade. The freshest and best quality. Miguel is passionate about his cooking, and Fernando couldn't do more to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The entire setting and village are picture perfect. I just want to savor my memories of this fabulous place. The humble hosts should teach hospitality. They have it down to an art. The Casa is run with a lot of love and a huge passion for everything the hosts have literally created with their own hands. If I ever come back to Portugal, it will be because I would like to return here. Thank you

La zona de la piscina era genial. Las habitaciones eran grandes y cada una con su propio baño. La cocina y el salón eran muy grandes. Es un sitio acogedor y cómodo, ideal para grupos numerosos.

The location of Casa do Castanheiro is absolutely fantastic, the view directly from the house is stunning. You see bare, wild mountains, with artificial lake at the bottom of the view. The house is well equipped in terms of multimedia (TV, audio, internet works reasonably well considering remote location). There is plenty of kitchen equipment! Bathroom is nice, not new, but well maintained and reasonably clean. Outeiro is located within borders of a national park, it is great for hiking and general tourism around the area. The hosts are not on site, but are very helpful at arrival and during stay, getting in touch was very easy!. Prior to arriving I read the reviews of the house, they mentioned tricky arrival/parking at the location. It is indeed very tight, but so is the whole village. Be prepared for very tight manouvers and cm level spaces between car and walls/steps/stones etc.

Good house in a quiet traditional Portuguese aldeia. In the kitchen there are all necessary utensils, but do not forget to buy some food before arrival as there is no supermarket in the village.
