The location was as expected, a lovely peaceful part of France and just what I needed to unwind. The facilities were very comfortable with a Supermarket within a two minute walk where i purchased some local produce to enjoy that evening. The heating worked really well and I was warm all night in a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and tidy with a good powerful shower. I will definitely stay again in the very near future.

Franck & Virginie have renovated and decorated all the apartments and suites with exceptional taste and the facilities are excellent, including the lovely pool, which we enjoyed on hot days. Their breakfasts are perfect, always fresh, with the added pleasure of Franck’s cake (when you know, you know)! Do try their evening meal option, at a small additional cost - you won’t regret it. We got to try some special dishes cooked by them both and would highly recommend if you fancy a night in. We sat outside to dine and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. Our hosts Virginie and Franck are exceptional - warm, welcoming and adding those special extra touches of kindness that make your stay even more memorable! Their adorable dogs, never in your way, but friendly enough to come and say ‘hello’, added to the charm. Virginie was kind enough to introduce me to the stunning horses she breeds. We will be back and can see this place becoming a favourite. Thank you both for your kindness and hospitality, a perfect stay in a region of France we intend to settle down in.

Our 3-night stay at Le Clos du Plantis could not have been better. The property is in a serene setting surrounded by flowers and nature. We awoke each morning to birdsong. The ancient Charentais logere has been lovingly and tastefully renovated so that each room and bath are spacious and have a door to the exterior. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the linens are high quality. No skrimping here! Each morning our breakfast was delicious, plentiful and a bit different from the day before. Our hostess made sure we were fully satiated. One night we enjoyed an evening meal, as well, and it, too, was delicious. Sadly the weather was not cooperative to enjoy the inviting pool; however, one evening on the terrace we had a gourmet pizza from a nearby restaurant, while watching the sun go down and turn the evening sky to pink. There also is a comfy, attractive communal sitting area with brochures of points of interest. This accommodation is among the best we have had in France - indeed in any country- since we started frequently traveling in Europe in 2005. The surrounding area has a bounty of interesting places to explore. Whether you want a restful getaway or a base from which to sightsee, Le Clos du Plantis is an exceptional choice. This is rural France at its best, yet close enough to Cognac, Saintes, Royan (beach), Angouleme, and the relatively unknown St-Jean-d'Angely, to enjoy historic and interesting adventures or more sporting activities. And don't forget to sample the pineau, cognac, and wines from the many vintners throughout this region. We look forward to a return visit. It does not get better than this!
