A superb place to stay. Loads of space for a couple and a great kitchen to make meals and feel at home. Lovely just sitting on the porch enjoying the view. A shop is a short cycle/drive away. Town is 30min walk and mainly with pavement/sidewalk.

This hostel is a treasure trove, a fantastic, beautifully renovated building from the Middle Ages in the historic centre of La Reole. Seeing it on Booking.com I had some initial reservations about communal bedrooms (8 and 3 people) but it turned out an amazing experience. It feels like coming to a friendly person's home. The hostel is super clean, recently renovated, homey, well designed, run by Julien who is terrific. The vast cooking, dining, living, TV watching room is comfortable and convivial. The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with ingredients to make one's own meal. Guests, two Spanish speaking cyclists made a dinner for themselves and invited me and everyone in the room to join. In the morning a French breakfast is served with an unbeatable choice of jams. In the huge bedroom with 8 beds the only other person was a 84 years gentleman doing the "Camino in reverse", walking from Santiago da Compostela to Northern France. I got a first hand report about the walk and an opportunity to practice my French. Admittingly, there is a small risk of sharing the room with seven snorers. Next to the room there is one toilet and a separate large comfortable shower.
