Beautiful and peaceful setting overlooking the fjord. Spotlessly clean, great kitchen with everything you could need. Made to feel very welcome when we arrived. Would loved to have stayed longer to explore the area.

The Skjolden Hotel was the high point of my trip. I was passing through the area and stayed for three nights. I was immediately captivated by the view of the fjord, then stayed for the excellent food from the kitchen and the lovely staff. if I had the time I would have stayed for a week.

We didn't get to hike on the ice, you gotta book a tour in advance for that, but the area is beautiful and we got very close to the glacier at the Nigardsbreen (1h drive). Also check out the Viking Church in Ornes (30min drive) and start early to reserve some time to explore the waterfalls on the way! We extended our stay and got a better deal at the property than at this site. We didn't catch any fish, despite our efforts every evening - it was just too early in the season and the waters too cold, they said.
