The stay at Shantys was just perfect. Ornella and her husband were very nice and helpful hosts and the house is freshly renovated and perfectly equipped. Hotel-like with all amenities. Perfect place to start of the hiking trail GTA Etappa 1 (10 min by foot to Maria de la gurva) including early breakfast and some bread, fruit and cake for the hike.

The apartment was a pleasant space with a lot of character, located in the heart of the village. It was well equipped and very clean. Friendly neighbours, safe area for kids to play. It's a nice location where both Macugnaga/Monte Rosa can be reached in half an hour, but you can exit the valley for excursions to Lago Maggiore etc easily enough too. There are few tourists in the village so it has an authentic feel. I loved it and we will be returning as soon as possible.
