Best room and bed ever. La cena per probare il gusti di Toskana era multo bene. The place is nice to have a great view onto the valley of Arno. Its very quiet, I spent a beautiful day for relaxing on the terrace. Thanks to Lisa, Lorenzo, the boys and Asia (the dog).

We are more than satisfied with the accomodation. The apartman is even better, than i imagined of the pictures, the owner is the kindest and tried to solve perfectly our communication despite of the language problems. The village is wonderful with amazing view, people are lovely. We loved our stay.

The location was idyllic, set in the olive trees below Montecatini Alto. Antonio (the host) was friendly, informative and efficient but non-invasive - he was on site to let us in when we accidentally locked the keys inside but otherwise left us to our own devices. The pool - like everywhere - was incredibly clean. The washing machine worked and there were ample supplies in the way of crockery, kitchen utensils etc. There was a bowl of fresh fruit on the table when we arrived and he gave us two complimentary bottles of the wine from this very beautiful and particular area, which were delicious. Likewise the olive oil from the olive trees there. He told us which grapes we could eat and they were very sweet and tasty. There was an outdoor pizza oven which unfortunately we didn't have time to use. Because the location was a little off the beaten track (and difficult to find when we first arrived) it would not be practical to stay here without a car - and the tracks are narrow, so if you meet someone going the opposite direction they don't always respond with grace. So a smaller car is advised! It was a very quiet location and ideal for what we were doing, which was a yoga retreat. The water from the golden rooster tap was from the mountains and quite delicious. We had a lovely time there and I would thoroughly recommend it as a venue for a family or group wanting a quiet, restful and relaxing time.

The owner Cristiana made us feel like family and right at home from the beginning, making us a caffe and making sure we had all information necessary for a great and safe trip within the area. Her English is exceptional (we’re working on our Italian! :)) ) and she gave us a tour of her gorgeous property, wedding venue and a complimentary bottle of wine to begin our stay. We were sad to leave and cannot wait to come back with more of our family! Il Pillone carries the heart of what we love of the people, culture, peace and beauty of Italy. This place was literally out of this world! It’s perched on a steep wooded mountain high above the bustle below. It has the most beautiful views of ancient castles complete with sunsets, moon, rises, and beautiful grounds from which to enjoy them. Everything was exquisite, amazing gardens, and a spa, from which to enjoy the view outside! The interior living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were likewise beautifully furnished with wonderful taste. The best part was that the hosts, Maria and her husband were genuinely warm, friendly, and very accommodating to our needs! We feel like we have friends in Italy who we would love to see again.
