The mother and son that run the place are so kind. Each day before I set out for my hikes the proprietor handed me a bag of snacks. There is also two wonderful private onsens that were free each time I sought to use them. Lovely place.

Stunning modern Japanese architecture, zen gardens, contemporary decor, wonderful food beautifully presented in a sublime setting, lovely onsen with (amazing toiletries/beauty products!), extremely attentive discreet staff.

We had a very memorable stay at this facility. The staff were truly outstanding and did everything to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. The room was spacious well appointed and clean, the onsite Onsen which can be reserved for private use and was very enjoyable. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of the local shrines etc, in addition the bus stop to pick transport to the National park is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The town of Nikko is very popular with day trippers who are transported via tour busses. Before 10am and after 4pm (when day trippers are absent) the town is very quiet and many businesses are closed so it is very challenging finding any restaurant that is open and serves breakfast or dinner. That said, the hotel serves excellent food, The breakfast was very enjoyable, Dinner is a 8 course French menu, everything was suburb and beautifully presented, and the service was excellent.

Our stay at the Shinkyo Inn was 11/10. The location is stunning with beautiful views at the bend of the river overlooking the famous Shinkyo Bridge—conveniently located within walking distance of the train station, shrine complex, imperial villa, and much more. There is a bus stop outside for quick access to the cable car, the lake, volcano, onsen, and hikes outside of town. This bed + breakfast style inn delivers on every promise—and then some!

Very comfortable home in a tranquil suburb of Nikko. Lots of space, fully equipped kitchen. The bunk beds gave the place a touch of nostalgia from our youth hostel days. Private parking. The owner was very helpful and friendly. Communication via mail was excellent. Nothing left to wish for.

This was a really wonderful place to stay in for our visit to Nikko. Thr host Yoshi was very kind and really helped us plan our trip so we could use our time well. The hotel itself is beautiful, comfortable and extremely clean. Will definitely return to this place when visiting Nikko!
