Enjoy a unique accommodations experience when you stay at The Old Mount Gambier Jail. Pleasantly surprised at how nice the place was - the shared kitchen, the garden, relaxation spaces while also keeping some parts true to history. I was much more comfortable knowing the traditional owners had performed smoking ceremonies.
Boasting barbecue facilities and views of garden, Limestone Coast Tourist Park is located in Mount Gambier, 3.7 mi from Blue Lake. Great value for money. Refurbished in 2019 and located just 4 minutes’ drive from Blue Lake, Southgate Motel features a bar, a restaurant and a sauna. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a spa pool open in warmer months. Room was fantastic, clean and modern. King size bed was extremely comfortable. Was lucky enough to have a door leading outside from my room to carpark. Heated pool was great too.

The Henty is located just 1.2 mi from Mount Gambier Town Center. It offers an indoor pool. Free on-site parking is provided for cars, trucks and coaches. I really enjoyed relaxing in the spa. The bed was so comfortable I had the best night sleep In a very long time.
Nice clean well maintained regional city with plenty to see and do within the district. Large well represented shopping precinct, and the city council seems to take pride in presenting and maintaining the Manny facilities and point of interest it has.
I travelled with my family and we had a wonderful time. It has so many interesting places to visit and explore. My favourite was the Ewens Ponds. It's amazing that you can dive and have a closer look what's underneath. I will definitely come back!
Big country town that has everything, eating, drinking, entertainment. Doesn't have the traffic snarls of a major city, easy to navigate. Many natural attractions close by plus only 4 hours to either Melbourne or Adelaide so easy drive. Wine regions within 30 mins. Recommended stop off town for a few days.
Our trip was to visit family, so did not see much of the local area this trip. We have visited the Mount on previous occasions and seen the local attractions. We did find two trendy cafes in the CBA Confessions and The Metro great coffee.
Town with a bit of an Adelaide vibe. Loved how green and hilly it is and everything is close by. Blue Lake and Valley Lake are a must see and there is the nice Blue Gum trail which starts at the Centenary Tower carpark. This bypasses the Tower and it's a steep road to get to the latter. The parkland areas at Valley Lake include a large playground and it may take a little while to find it, but there is a small conservation & wildlife park as well. Some wildlife was well hidden, but we did spot kangaroos, turtles, a koala and lots of birds. The Umpherston Sinkhole is a must as well, in my opinion. A large sinkhole that is now a park and at dusk you can meet (and feed) the possums. It's very touristy and due to some stairs, people in wheelchairs won't be able to go to the bottom, but the view is still worth it from the top. Can also recommend the Engelbrecht Caves that takes you into a large sinkhole. Part of which is underwater and only accessible to very experienced divers. Mt Gambier has plenty of shops, really good bakeries and all amenities you need. For longer stays there are also really great day trips one can do with Mt Gambier as base.
We stayed 3 nights there and it was enough time to see and do everything. we even went for a day trip to Port McDonald, which was lovely. Highlight was the Valley lake conservation park. Kids enjoyed walking around spotting all the different animals and birds. The playground there was also a big hit even though it was a rainy day. great place to picnic(weather Permitting) Another highlight were the 2 sinkholes gardens and feeding the possums at night.
The place had everything we needed. So close to shops within walking distance. It was very clean and tidy. We were very happy with the apartment. It exceeded our expectations. I would recommend this place very highly.

The only problem from cabin 3 is our casserole has no lid, don’t have knife 🔪 and cutting board. Plus maybe you forgot to put bath soap in our room, no shampoo also. Thank
The cabin was perfect for what we needed, would highly recommend it for a longer stay if you want somewhere homely and comfortable to stay whilst in Mount Gambier.
