This is a hidden gem. I really wanted to keep this one to myself. The location is perfect. Set far enough away from the centre to ensure peace and quiet yet walking distance to great bars and restaurants as well as the town centre and local shops. We booked a few nights after Christmas. We were met by Ronya on arrival and were upgraded to the flamingo unit with a large balcony overlooking the street, it was a great place to sit in the morning with our coffees. The property is immaculate and the units are beautifully decorated and well maintained. It really feels like a home from home. The kitchen is well stocked and we were given a beautiful bottle of wine and chips on arrival. The bathroom has everything you need from Sukin products to Sheradin towels and a washer and dryer. The bedroom was beautifully decorated with a four poster bed and the most comfortable mattress and crisp white sheets. We will definitely be booking this property for any future visits to Mudgee.

Location for outdoor activities.

Location for outdoor activities. Walked around the wetlands area, very well done, with great walking paths. Hiked the 8 klms to and from Cathedral Rocks, easy walking and great views. Plenty of wineries to visit, had a lovely pumpkin salad at 971 Estate, with a delightfully tasting Moscato to accompany. My meal at the Irish pub was not great. Breakfast jaffle I had at Alby and Ethers was delicious.

Good restaurants, great pubs, plenty of winery's.

Good restaurants, great pubs, plenty of winery's. So much to see and do in and around the town. Or simply relax. Easy 3 hours from Penrith so you can sneak out of work, checked in and in the pub before the kitchen closes. The NSW Government needs to put the train back on. Run weekenders and mid-week for the retirees. Sydney to Mudgee, Newcastle to Mudgee. Make it an entire relaxed get away.

Mudgee is a beautiful destination and well worth a visit. The region offers stunning countryside, a relaxed atmosphere, and an excellent food and wine scene. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local wineries, each offering unique wines, warm hospitality, and picturesque views. The town itself is charming, with great cafés, restaurants, and friendly locals. A perfect weekend getaway for anyone looking to unwind and experience some of the best wine country New South Wales has to offer. Would really recommend Lawsons Family Winery

Great alternative to the Hunter wine region.

Great alternative to the Hunter wine region. We came up through the upper hunter. Recommend the cross country road from Jerrys Plains for wonderful country roads (some twisty or bit longer through Cassilis, Ulan for less twisty) Some great wineries in the area many supplying grapes to the Hunter. Lots of options for food and drink in and around town if you are looking for lunch in a winery or a good pub meal for dinner.

Missed visiting the interesting Mudgee Museum however...

Missed visiting the interesting Mudgee Museum however thoroughly enjoyed the village and museum at Gulgong. Rosby winery with it's garden sculptures, nice wines, cheese and meat board made for a pleasant lunch in a nice setting. Sit down lunch at the Di Lusso Estate Winery also very pleasant in a relaxed setting. Many interesting heritage buildings and monuments in the area - Train station 1884, Old Town Hall/Library plus many others. Alby and Esthers in Market Street for a coffee break. Everyone friendly and helpful to us.

Mudgee is a great town to visit, especially if you foodie, enjoy your wines and the locals seem very friendly. My friend and I did two wine tours which were value for money and had experienced guides, being Wine 'n' Wines and Mudgee Explorer Tour. The Mudgee Information Centre was very helpful and the cafe next door does reasonably good coffee.

The apartment was really well appointed, with loads of room, facilities (most of which we sadly didn't have time to use) and is literally within easy walking distance to everything. It was lovely to find a bottle of local wine on our arrival, along with snacks, a great selection of teas, coffee, breakfast cereals and bottled water. It was a great base for exploring Mudgee and the surrounding area, not to mention very conveniently located next to a good pub!

From the moment we checked in, we felt right at home. All staff members were super friendly and welcoming, so much so, that I will definitely be returning to the Clairfield Hotel on my next trip to Mudgee. They also do happy hour in the bar during the weekdays. Amazing drinks.
