Coming from Wanaka/Queenstown in NZ this is a tall question to answer!! However, Thredbo is quaint, clean, interesting, informative and a lovely national park area. Could have more history promoted - e.g. the Thredbo book is great but the whole high country has rich history in cattle farming/ranching/horsetrekking/ brumby herds etc. It's not all about suiting the urban traveller...............! Thredbo reminds me of Grindelwald or small Swiss town at base of Jungfrau Joch - minus the train! CandleLight, the Bakery and even the pub to mix with the locals!
Nice alpine town. We start our climb to Mount Kosciusko from Thredbo Apline Hotel by taking the Snowgum Chairlift and continue the next 982m climb from the chairlift station to the summit. Leftover snow was knee deep nearing the summit, but we managed to summit the mountain on 17 Oct 2022 at 12:52pm from 10am start. Recommended to hike with snowshoe and hiking pole during early spring season.
We loved staying in Thredbo, though it is an expensive town. There was snow on the mountains which meant we could take the kids up to see snow via the chairlift. Everyone was friendly and accomodating. Overall a quaint place to visit and stay. We would stay longer next time.
Great place. Lots to do and see. The museum was interesting. Plenty of variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Even if you don't ski there's lots to do. Would have liked to go up on the gondola if weather was better. Also a shame there is no tobogganing allowed. The accommodation was wonderful but a bit expensive. However a free continental breakfast was included so that was a bonus. All the workers there were friendly and helpful. It's easy to walk around. We all got pretty soaked from rain and snow but all good fun. Car parking is a bit of a nightmare. The bar at Berntie's was cosy with great atmosphere. We will definitely be back again and will stay longer.
Great village atmosphere! Long runs on the mountain and lots of great places to eat. The Local (pub) has good simple pub classics. Reasonably priced and quick service. House of Ullyr had awesome Mexican. The cocktails at the Denman were first class. Live bands at The river inn. Bring up any groceries you think you might want as the supermarket is limited and expensive. Monday night most places are closed so be prepared to wait for those that are open or have a meal prepared to eat in your accommodation. Try a schnapps or glued in on the mountain. It’s delicious!
Room was dusty. Rushed cleaning by whoever. Thick dust on the carpet, used socks behind the heater from previous owner. Filthy area under the bed full of dust and rubbish. We tend to shorten our stay but obviously given the policy of no amendments and no cancellation policy, you just gonna throw out 1400 and stay no where. My family had a sever dust allergy that made our stay and visit a but odd. We went back in a hurry to Sydney to have a check up as our allergies are getting worst. Jacob was the only highlight of this property. He was genuinely helpful and excellent in customer service. An absolute asset to the company. You ask for a hand, he’s willing to extend his whole arm just to help. Shared Patiently a lot of knowledge even after office hours. Indeed a legend! You definitely have a bright future in your position! Keep it up!
Thredbo
Perfect accommodation for us ! A family of 4. Comfortable beds, fire place, very clean & quiet. Beautiful view of the mountains & only a few steps away from the village. Under ground garage with internal access. Plenty of towels & linen. Easy to communicate with Raine & Horne, they were super lovely coming back to the apartment to ensure we had firewood. Dealt with Raine & Horne in the past & always helpful & have amazing customer service.
The view was great could see across to the Kosciuszko lift. It was very clean and fully stocked with dishes and cookware, nice size fridge. The sleep sofa was very confortable. Its a good sized room for no more than 4 people it would be pretty cozy at that point. There was super cool feature a little drying room in the entrance with a heater so you can dey your wet ski clothes and boots.
Thredbo
Friendliness of staff~awesome. Views-awesome. Facilities-awesome. Bike storage & cleaning-awesome. Having experienced a very rude encounter with management at nearby hotel (Candlelight lodge) that made an error in their booking system and failed to acknowledge error, it was the best outcome for us...a friendly couple and a great lodge, so glad we changed at the last minute!
Thredbo
Great location, easy to get to the snow fields by bus or walking. Also a short distance from the village. National park and walking trails accessible from the back step of the apartment. Comfortable place with everything we needed (well stocked kitchen, extra bedding, large drying room, cot and high chair). Would suit a family with older kids or two couples best.
Pablo met us at the reception bridge, and personally directed us to our room, as we'd requested a room location without too many stairs as we had a recent stroke victim with us, and his walking ability is a bit slow and limited. He and his family also made us feel welcome by recognising us in the bluesfest crowds and acknowledging us.
Thredbo
We thoroughly enjoyed the location nestled in a little nook near natural bushland but enough open space for children to play, the family atmosphere at Thredbo was fantastic. The cottage had a nice atmosphere about it. The shower was good and welcomed after a physical day of either walking in summer or skiing in Winter.
Thredbo
We stayed at this chalet in summer. It is in a good location in the Woodridge area of Thredbo. Easy walking distance to Thredbo village and main chairlift. One closed car space, 3 bedrooms + one loft area with two single beds and a sofa bed - enough to sleep 9 people easily. The loft gets quite hot during the summer nights.
Thredbo
The apartment far exceeded our expectations. Everything was done with the residents in mind and with the possible convenience and comfort in the decor, bedding, furniture, and appliances. We had a lovely weekend and will return sometime in the future.
Thredbo
Great view across the mountain, close to the centre with shops and restaurants. Bus or walk to the ski lifts. No parking but can park close by in free parking areas. Well equipped kitchen and bedding was hotel quality. Very clean and comfortable.
Thredbo
The room was cosy with a comfortable bed. The heater was definitely needed as the room was quite chilly through the night, despite it being summer. The hotel's proximity to the ski field and to most restaurants was a big plus.
Thredbo
The apartment was well situated within the village , not far to walk to the shops or the ski lift. It was very comfortable and well appointed. Loved the fact that it had 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, ideal for 6 adults.
Thredbo
The location was great, with a view up the mountain, The apartment was large enough for our adult family of 4, and had the convenience of laundry facilities and a full kitchen including a dishwasher.
Thredbo
Proximity to the Thredbo Village and restaurants and fabulous view of the Thredbo ski slopes, you can view the light show from your balcony. Well stocked kitchen with all cooking facilities.
Room location is the best part. I understand it is a heritage hotel but I would like to recommend installed small microwaves in rooms instead of just kettle. It will be much more useful.
Thredbo
Well equipped, modern apartments in an excellent location with very good views. The on-site managers are knowledgeable and helpful.
Great location for skiing and only 500m to Thredbo Village. The room was a good size
