Very cozy and small town with a very unique atmosphere. A mix between The Netherlands and France, almost literally. Very good cuisine, with a decent price. Also, the best chocolate you can think of, with a wide variety of shops and chocolatiers to try from. I recommend the Chocolate Museum ONLY because of the last demo, in which a chocolatier gives a very nice explanation and let's you try fresh-made chocolate. Basically: Walk around, enjoy the scenery, drink lots of beer, have lots of chocolate in different places, eat well in awesome restaurants and enjoy your weekend.
We saw the Basillica of The Holy Blood, which was out of this world. The History of Bruges museum - where we went on a virtual tour, it was very interesting. We climbed the Belfry Tower, the view is spectacular! We went into the Church of Our Lady - a building that I will never forget! Plus much much more. We walked along cobbled streets next to canals with the constant sound of church bells and horses. Bruges was the most idylic place I have ever seen in my life!!
This wasn't our first visit to Bruges. Every where is within easy walking distance. Weather was glorious! Our favorite parts were the horse and carriage ride, it is a set price which is displayed on the side of of the carriages so you know what you are getting. The city mini-bus tour was great and informative. The canal boat ride was good value for money and showed a different aspect of Bruges. We came across an excellent free harp concert by Luc vanlaere, in the St Johns Hospital, well worth a visit. On New Years Eve had a meal at 't Grillasteeltje which was excellent and the service was great would highly recommend. For our daily coffee we went to a chocolate shop tearoom called Sukerbuyc (the tearoom was over the road from the chocolate shop) coffee was excellent and came with chocolates and the cakes etc. were delicious the customer service was also excellent, would highly recommend
The city itself is beautiful and charming, a nice escape from hustle and bustle! There's lots to do and see including museums and historical buildings. Obviously Belgian chocolate and beer are a must during your stay! Delaneys Irish Bar had fantastic food, drink and service with a lovely varied menu..good value for money there too in comparison with other places. Overall, a really enjoyable trip, would definitely recommend Bruges!
Bruges is a chocolate box - literally! Every corner you turn is beautiful with stunning architecture, canals, steeped in history and of course the best chocolates in the World what more could you ask for! Really magical to visit during winter and Christmas but would equally be lovely in the summer - another visit! A horse and carriage ride is a must - the horses hoofs hitting the cobbles takes you back in time. To sum it up 11/10 we loved Bruges!
Visited a small selection of the museums, including The Torture Museum, Beer Museum and Chocolate Museum and would recommend them all. On a more traditional note hired bikes one day and climbed the Belfry, both worthwile and slightly more strenuous! Otherwise time was relaxingly ticked away exploring the streets on foot visiting sights from the Minne Water to Kon Astrid Park and enjoysing stops at cafes. Food and drink at the Christmas Markets were good, especially the Gluhwein Extra which had a nice kick. Would very much recommed both Bistro de Schilder and au Petit Grand where we had dinner. Brugge is certainy small enough to walk around, hiring bikes ment you could reach the extremities in minutes but, bare in mind it is more comfortable to walk on cobbles than cycle.
I loved the cosy medieval building that makes me feel that I am brought to the past. The beds were really comfortable and the heating was fantastic. The view of the canal from the window of room 21 was fantastic. Although the building in front of has some construction going on but I could still get a nice view of the canal. Just ignore the construction so that it doesn’t get to you too much! Loved the fact that they use Rituals products in the bathroom. Great that they provided a kettle for coffee, tea & hot chocolate. Just remember to request for refills the next day for both drinks and also bath products as they only refill upon request.
Bruges Historic Center, Bruges
The whole property was absolutely stunning, seems like an old building and they made very private, cozy and elegant. Absolutely recommend it for a private couples’ getaway. Very romantic. Breakfast was incredible (so many delicious options to choose from), we had a terrace with canal view right outside the room which was also lovely (not private to the room but since we were the only ones downstairs it almost felt like ours). They also provide us with Belgian beers as a welcome and we had chocolate cake on the second day for the afternoon.
The hotel itselfs was awesome, very confortable and a little bit outside from downtown (just 5 minutes walking). Looking at the water and hearing it was too relaxing. The personal was very nice and friendly, they gave us options of what we can do and she has everything good explained. Restaurant and breakfast was a good experience too. If you want to stay in a quiet place and still near to the city, this Boat Hotel is one of the best options that you can choice. Thank you for everything and I hope we meet in the future again.
Very nice hotel near the city centre but not in a loud place. Great location, everything is at about 50 to max 300 m. distance from the hotel. Rooms are big and very cosy. Staff is helpful and if anything needed just tell them and they will try to assist you. We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of December just before Christmas while in my opinion is the best time to explore Brugge. You sense the Christmas spirit from everywhere. For sure we will book the hotel again for our next stay in Brugge. Thanks for everything!
The staff were very polite and helpful. Their English was very good and very appreciated. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were very clean and quiet. The location was perfect for visiting the historical centre of Brugges. Parking costs were very reasonable and well worth it. As our first night in Europe we chose to spend a little extra to know that we would have a good night’s rest.
The room had everything we needed for a very good price. It was very clean and especially the bed was super comfortable. The location as well, since we needed to get to the main station very early in the morning and from there we were able to do it on foot.
We read bad reviews about the hotel. Despite that, without putting any hope, we still booked it as it is according to our budget and the location was strategic, too. To our surprise, to us, our stay there was great 😊
Loved the owners CARE and attention, the staff, the architecture and the breakfasts. On top of, 100 metres from the market and lots of commodities around.
Large comfortable room, quiet, great view of the canal, nice breakfast choices in a lovely room, location perfect.
