Bruges is beautiful and well worth a visit.

Bruges is beautiful and well worth a visit. Try walking away from the centre of town and walking around the perimeter near the canal. There are 4 old, traditional windmills along the bank. The city centre was very busy when we were there but there were no significant queues for anything. Watch out for the bikes - they're everywhere! And it's not always obvious what is road and what is footpath with all the cobbles - so be prepared to hop out of the way of traffic!

Bruges is a beautiful place. The two cathedrals are special with OLV’s Michelangelo Madonna the reason we came to Bruges. Walking in the city is easy, provided you are aware of the cyclists who zoom around the streets. Food options are plentiful with some lovely squares to choose from.

    Bruges is INCREDIBLE.

Bruges is INCREDIBLE. It is so obvious why it is a UNESCO protected site. I cannot think of a better way to describe this city other than picturesque, quaint and charming. It is incredibly walkable but there are bikes literally everywhere should you choose the most popular form of transportation. It is also train accessible from Brussels and Antwerp in less than 2 hours. I just couldn't recommend the city more.

Bruges was like walking into a real life fairy tale with the beautiful medieval buildings, interesting museums like the hospital and the Belfry tower, amazing and quaint shops, yummy wafels (both regular and gluten free) and scrumptious chocolate shops, as well as going for a bike ride that took us through the town of Schlus and all the way to the North Sea (25 miles) along an amazing network of bike paths.

It was hard to find non touristy restaurants - all the levies were the same and the food in general was a little disappointing. Bruges is beautiful and really compact with all the attractions early accessible by foot (max 15-20 min walk. Beware - most places close about 8pm In a Sunday - even many bars - and many restaurants are closed on a Monday. It is easy to park for free on the ‘outskirts’ and walk into the centre.
